Alexa traced the pattern of the covers. She could never sit still and always had to be doing something with her hands when she was uncomfortable. And this was one of those times.
"You're not hurting me."
She started at the sound of his voice. When Alexa glanced up through her fringe of bangs, she quickly glanced down, relieved that he wasn't looking at her. Lies! All lies! She wanted to shout, doing so mentally.
"If you want I'll have Mike or Jason take you home then."
She bit her lip, but reluctantly conceded. She was dying to get back to her own house to freshen up. She hadn't had a shower since yesterday morning and hadn't thought to ask to take one at his house. "Yeah, that's fine," she said as she started to get off his bed.

To his dismay she had agreed to go home instead of staying here with him. He looked over to the clock and let out a sigh of relief. It was closer to sunset then he had thought. It had felt like they'd been sitting in his room for days instead of a few hours.
"Alright..." he said as he stood from the bed. He looked over to his bedroom door then back to her. He wondered if she even wanted to see him later or not but shrugged off the thought as he walked over to the door. He stood behind it and carefully opened the door, checking to see if the sun was still peering through the small windows. Fortunately, the coast was clear and he stepped out into the hallway.
He listened as he heard footsteps from the kitchen below them. "Someone's already up." He motioned for her to come along before he made his way downstairs. Jason sat in the living watching the news as he at a bowl of cereal while Mike went through the fridge finding something other than plain old cereal. "Well good morning sunshines."

"Alright..."
Alexa heard him sigh and he seemed relieved. So he hadn't wanted her here this whole time...
At least that's what she thought. She sniffed back the burning in her eyes and followed him out of his bedroom. Now that she could see the windows, it was closer to sunset.
It was a relief to know that Ivan would be able to feed soon and be free. He obviously hated being cooped up and the little time that she had spent with him, she hadn't quite enjoyed it either. But spending time with him had been great.
"Well good morning sunshines."
Alexa gave them a weak smile and a shrug. "Yeah, we're up," she merely said as she took the stairs slowly one at a time. She plopped down on the large couch at the end and gazed at the news. She paled slightly when she heard about bodies being found drained of blood in dark alleys. And it scared her now that she knew the truth even more.

Ivan walked straight into the kitchen as Alexa took a seat in the living room. He figured he'd make her something to eat before sending her home. He hadn't paid much attention to the news and almost completely forgot about the events that had happened the night before.
"Damn man what happened to your arm?" Mike immediately asked as Ivan entered the kitchen. Ivan looked down at his arm which was wrapped in an old shirt. A bit of blood had soaked through it but it wasn't anything to serious. Not to him anyways. He simply shrugged in response and began digging through his pantry in search of something to cook.
He found a can of Ravioli which had been shoved behind a few bags of chips. He closed the pantry and made his way over to the stove. "Aye Ivan, your picture is on tv dude." Jason called from the living room as Ivan tossed a pot onto the stove. "What?" was all he managed to say as he walked towards the entrance to the living room, his eyes fixed on the tv.
There it was. His face and name plastered all over the tv with a video of the scene where he had crashed taken from a camera which was in a helicopter. "Well that's just great huh?" he curled his fingers into fists, trying to calm down. Now he knew it would be a lot harder to hunt or do anything since he was wanted.

Alexa let her head loll against the back cushions, deciding not to really pay attention to the news. She didn't really want to hear about people's lives being ended by the things she now knew existed. Not that this made her think any different about Ivan, but this was probably because she did have feelings for him.
"Aye Ivan, your picture is on tv dude."
This brought the teen's attention back to the TV. Just as Jason had said, Ivan's face was indeed posted on the TV. The headline that ran above Ivan's picture said something about illegal gambling going on in the streets of downtown.
Wouldn't they have known that that was already going on? It wasn't like the racers were very inconspicious...
This thought ran through Alexa's head before she glanced up at Ivan with a worried expression. "Is everything going to be okay?"
She certainly hoped so. Maybe she should stay at his house just to make sure. He was probably going to have a hard time getting out and about outside of his house. Especially when he needed to feed...

"Is everything going to be okay?"
He shot his eyes away from the tv and looked over to Alexa. He went to answer her question but was cut off by Jason. "Of course it's not gonna be okay. I'm sure the cops are well on their way here." he went on as he set his now empty bowl onto the coffee table. Jason was right. Not that Ivan was too worried about it because he knew he could take on a few cops. He was more worried about his friends and especially Alexa.
He didn't know what to do now. They could either stay at his house and wait and see if the cops did end up showing or flee. Running away from a situation wasn't something Ivan enjoyed doing. "Hmmm..." was all that came from him as he turned his attention back towards the tv.
He listened intently as they named off the people that had been found dead at the scene. This did nothing but amuse him only because among those people was Eric. The person that had caused Ivan to make such a mess in the first place. Now he knew for sure that the cops would be out looking for him since now he was wanted for murder.

"Of course it's not gonna be okay. I'm sure the cops are well on their way here."
Alexa glanced from Ivan to Jason. She was instantly confused if Jason was just kidding around like she had become used to, or if he was being for real. "Great..." she muttered.
As selfish as it seemed, she couldn't help but worry if the cops did come if she would be associated with the murders. That would ruin her career, but she didn't say anything. She hated how low down it made her sound.
"Hmmm..."
Was that all Ivan could say? Hmm? She sighed softly and let her head fall onto a pillow. But he was obviously just as unsure as the rest of them. What would they do? They couldn't neccassarily make a break for it until after sunset because of Ivan. Not to mention, the burn on his arm didn't appear to be getting any better.
"What are we gonna do?" she whispered, glancing at the TV then away when she saw the names of the people that were murdered. When she glanced back up at Ivan, her mouth went agape when she saw that he seemed almost proud at the names that scrolled across the screen .

Ivan laughed along with Mike as a shot of Eric popped up onto the screen. He laid face down in a pool of blood in the middle of the street along side his now wrecked vehicle. Killing people was an everyday thing for Ivan now so it didn't bother him. What bothered him was getting caught. He was always so careful when it came to feeding but last night he lost control.
"Well that sucks for him." Jason said instead of laughing along with the other boys. "Seriously though, what now?" It took a moment or two for Ivan to stop laughing. He walked over to the couch and sat beside Alexa, wrapping an arm around her. He had completely forgot about the food he was planning to make for her.
He glanced over at the small clock which was placed over the fire place and smirked. The sun was now gone and now if the cops came, he had would have the upper hand. He ran the tip of his tongue over his fangs but kept his lips pressed together so that the others wouldn't see this. This will be fun he thought to himself, his arrogance getting the best of him.

Ivan's laughter rang out in Alexa's ears. Why was he laughing?! She wanted to yell. These were people just like her, Mike, and Jason. Sure, they might have been liars and cheats. Maybe had even done Ivan wrong, but was he so sadistic that he took joy in their deaths?
Alexa bit her lip and winced when she felt his cool arm settle down around her slender shoulders. He had just finished laughing, so he probably wouldn't notice the flinch.
"Seriously though, what now?"
"Yeah, that's what I want to know...." The teen muttered under her breath, but merely turned to look out the covered windows. It was dark on the street and there wasn't much activity going around. So obviously the police hadn't gotten there yet or they weren't coming.
Brown orbs widened at the sight of the smirk on his face and that was the last bit of fuse left in Alexa. "Why are you smirking?" she demanded in a whisper, eyes narrowed at her sneaker-clad feet.

"What are you two so worried about?" Mike asked as he came in with a bowl of Ravioli, looking at Alexa and Jason. "Did you guys forget that Ivan is a vampire? The cops can't touch him." Mike was doing nothing but boosting Ivan's arrogance.
"Why are you smirking?"
He quickly wiped the smirk off his face suddenly realizing how offended Alexa must have felt. "Sorry..." he whispered to her as he placed a hand under her chin. He lifted her face so that she was looking at him and placed a kiss on her nose. He turned his attention towards the large covered window hearing footsteps outside. He thought nothing of it, thinking it was a neighbor or something.
"Well we can either just relax here and wait to see if the cops come or not or..." his voice trailed as he heard more footsteps outside. He kept his eyes fixed towards the window then slowly moved them towards the front door. He gestured for everyone to keep quiet as he listened.
"I think they're already here." he whispered.

"Did you guys forget that Ivan is a vampire? The cops can't touch him."
This statement was a bit reassuring, but then she remembered the bullet holes from earlier. And Ivan was probably weak from loosing blood from the gun wounds and the burn the sun gave him.
"Sorry..."
Alexa smiled in reassurance, telling him she forgave him. "S'kay," she whispered and grinned when her nose was kissing.
"Well we can either just relax here and wait to see if the cops come or not or..."
The last bit of Ivan's sentence trailed off and Alexa immediately sensed something was wrong. She remained close by his side as everything got quiet and they began to wait...

Ivan nearly jumped out of his skin as a knock came to the door then soon after the doorbell. He didn't know what to do. He was sure that it was the police and assuming from all the foot steps he heard moments before, the swat team was with them.
"Go answer the door for me." he asked Alexa as he slowly stood and moved to the window. He carefully peered through the curtains and he was right. They had the front of the house surrounded and was sure the back was covered too. "Fuck." he whispered.
"Just say I'm not home." he joked but was somewhat serious. He moved towards the kitchen and hid behind the wall, waiting for Alexa to open the door. He was panicking now. He knew that he could easily get away from the police but he was worried about the other three that were with him. How would they get away?
He tapped his foot nervously on the tile floor of his kitchen and waited for the door to be answered. He knew if it wasn't answered soon the police would just barge in. He began to wonder how they would react to Alexa answering the door rather than him. He watched as Jason and Mike joined him in the kitchen.

"Go answer the door for me."
Alexa stared at Ivan incrediously. She couldn't believe what he was asking her to do. When she heard him utter, "Fuck," she knew that something bad was outside. She glared at him as he walked along behind the wall of the kitchen.
"Just say I'm not home."
Alexa wanted so bad to say she wouldn't, to say that she should turn him in. But she knew the same facts of their current situation as he did. If someone didn't answer soon, then they would probably barge in. "Loser..." she growled under her breath just low enough for him to hear.
When she reached the door, she gasped audibly at the sight of the cops spread out across Ivan's lawn. She decided that she would use the shock and surprise as part of her facade. "Um, yes. C-can I help you?" Alexa asked, eyes flickering back over her shoulder.

Ivan shot his elbow back at Mike as he stepped on his toe. "Damn it." he hissed at him as he listened as the door opened. He froze, holding his breath as Alexa's voice rang throughout the house. He peeked over the wall and watched as the detective flashed his badge to her.
"Hello miss. Is Ivan Drake here?" the detective as obviously confused, not expecting her to answer the door. He looked over her shoulder into the house, his attention falling onto the tv that had been left on. It was on the news and of course, headlines about what had happened at the races were on. He quickly turned his attention back to Alexa. "Do you mind if we search the house?"
"Shit!" Ivan let out in a whisper. He looked around the kitchen in panic and the only thing he could think of was darting out the back door. He wouldn't though. He would feel bad for leaving everyone else behind to deal with his mess.

Alexa was practically sweating bullets. She didn't want to lie. She had never been fond of them, just as she didn't like it when Ivan lied to her.
"Hello miss. Is Ivan Drake here?"
She paused for a moment. Would could she say? That they had the wrong house? They probably had proof that he lived here or else they wouldn't have known where to come. She bit the inside of her cheek and chewed nervously. "Um..." Then she had it.
Her eyes couldn't help but well up with tears. "Oh my poor dear brother! Ivan! I miss him so much! We haven't seen him for days. Who knows what has become of the boy?! He could be in a trash can...eating with the rats!" she exclaimed, her cheeks wet with realistic tears.
She sniffled and nodded when they asked if they could come in. Surely Ivan could somehow ghost out once she had the guys in, being fast and all. "Of course you may," she said, swinging the door wide open. She backed against the wall of the kitchen and whispered, "Go..."
