Flash Back
"Fine. Ill try and not do that anymore. But no promises. You know me." “I probably know you better than most people.”
"You always know silly little quotes. You’re so damn stubborn. But that’s why we get along so well. You actually push back. Not like the others." “They make you laugh and you know it. Besides, they help make you feel better.”
"One, you repeated the same question twice. Trying to distract me are we? Two, of course there were problems. When do you ever go to an airport and not have some sort of problem? I just had pure bad luck. They stopped me in London for a full body check. Apparently I look like I could be smuggling on a bomb. But that’s not the worst part. One guard brushed against me and felt my cold skin and then asked me why I was so cold when the night was warm. And then he checked for a pulse. What a nightmare that was. I was able to pull it off as heart problems though." “Oh God, that must have been annoying… Well, at least you figured it and now you won’t have to deal with that again… You and I will spend the next couple of days doing absolutely nothing but keeping your mind at ease and making you happy! Okay?”
"So. What have you been up to lately?" “A lot. I’ve finally got my bar back on its feet since the fire. I mean, it was a lot of work, paper work, and a lot of court work even. It was a while before I could get it open and even longer to get it back to being business worth. Also, it was really difficult to find some reliable staff. I made the place bigger, meaning I needed more people to help me out. And… Hey, no looking at the rode. Focus on me… WHOA!” He hit a bump on the road and then something unexpected happened. She was all over his lap. "I...uhh...Sorry?" “Um… no… It’s okay… really… I’m okay… Oh… Her’s the Café… Let’s take a break from the car…” He parked the car, a little red in the face. He was so embarrassed. It was as if the god’s were mocking him… He got out of the car and went to the other side, to open the door for her. ’Let’s just hope nothing else happens…’
Flash Forward
The door bell rang, and he saw the cooler of blood. “Thank you. Here is a tip. Thanks…” He closed the door and put all the blood in the fridge, turning on to the coldest setting. His food would freeze, but it wasn’t going to be that bad. There wasn’t much but water, Gatorade, some pasta, and some milk. He was so busy with the bar he really didn’t work on food. He finished putting in the last of the blood and closed the fridge, continuing to pace back and forth… until the voice he wanted to hear snapped him out of his pacing. "Vic? You okay?" Oh thank god. She was okay. “How are you feeling? Is everything okay? Any headache? Any blurry vision?” He was worried about her. He would even stay in the room sitting next to her, eyes always on her and mind always worrying about her. It was the hardest two hours of his life.

[atrb=width,450,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=000000] Being here in Vics home, she felt safe and loved. No where else in the world made her feel this way if she were to be perfectly honest. Coming here to Las Vegas and seeing Vic, was always like a vacation to her. Someplace where she could come and not have to worry about all the things in her life that kept stacking up and threatened to topple over and kill her. Like dealing with Sevanni Black and everything he put her through. He made her life hell and she had a feeling that for as long as they both lived, they would make each others lives a living hell. Seeing as they both didnt have any plans on dying anytime soon, forever at each others throats seemed like a real possibility.
But here, it was peaceful and quiet. Just the pure fact that only the sounds of the home was of Vic pacing and the clock ticking, proved it was peaceful. She was very thankful that Vic always welcome her with open arms and had the extra room for her. You could almost consider them room mates. Ali came down to visit Vic as much as she could and she would never stay in a hotel. She always had that room open for her use and enjoyment. And every time she came here, she felt comfortable. Like this place was meant to be her home. Like she was meant to wake up every evening with Vic already awake and waiting for her. It always put a smile on her face to walk down the hall and see him in the living room or kitchen with a smile as well, just waiting. Being two different species made things hard at times, but they managed.
She had a brief moment to wonder how long she had been out like a light before she saw Vic and asked him if he was okay. He was her main priority and since they had told each other their feelings at the airport she didnt need to hide how much she really worried about him anymore. She also didnt need to hide how much she loved him anymore. It had taken her forever to figure it out and to finally admit it to herself, but she knew it was true. It felt right, it sounded right. It was just...right. She loved Vic. She had loved him for a long time now. When had it happened? That was an answer she didnt exactly know. Had it been the part he had taken her to? Had it been before that when they were back at her hotel? Or even more before that when she had first met him? Was it one of the times they had hung out and bonded? It would remain a mystery.
All she did know was that she did love him. When he had kissed her in the airport, she had a feeling he loved her too. He had all but said as much. And by the look in his eyes as he asked her if she was okay, she could tell. Why had it taken them so long to realize this? Why had it taken a mistaken kiss to stir up what they already knew was there. Sometimes life worked in weird ways that you couldnt explain. And was Stephan's death a way of telling her that she belonged with Victor? True, she didnt truly love Stephan as she had thought, but it still hurt like a physical wound to imagine him trapped inside his own home and burning to death. There would be nothing left once the police and firemen got there. No one to save in that big awful house. She always knew that butler was up to no good.
Just thinking about Stephan being trapped in those fiery flames made her think of her own bad experience with fire. She knew what it felt like to be trapped and have no hope of getting out alive. Trapped in your own home and watching the flames getting closer and closer. Knowing that once you lit up, you wouldnt be unlit. Burning to death was one of the only ways for a vampire to die, and it seemed like a very painful death. The thought alone made a small shudder pass through her petite frame and then she shook her head to rid herself of the memory and pay attention to him once more. He had asked her some questions and it took her a minute of rewinding to process that. Placing a small smile on her lips she chuckled."I'll be all right Vic. I promise. Im a vampire and so injuries dont tend to stay very long. I just have a small headache and I am slightly dizzy." Waving a hand in the air, she made the gesture seem like she was waving away the illnesses she had. Of course, that wasnt the only thing wrong with her. Her jaw was still hurting, but that hadnt been from her passing out. So it wasnt relevant.
Another thing that Vic didnt need to know, was her slow healing factor. Unlike most vampires, she didnt heal as fast as them. The hurt jaw was proof of that. Sevanni had smacked her about two..three days ago and she was still feeling it. Sometimes it really sucked to heal that slow. But where she lacked in the healing factor, she gained in the pain factor. Her tolerance to pain was out the roof. Where most people would scream in agony from being tortured Sevanni Black style, she hadnt made a peep. Her pale little lips hadnt uttered a single noise. She had a feeling that was partly why Sevanni hated her so much. But hatred ran deep, and she was sure there was more then that reason alone for why he hated her. Because you couldnt just choose to hate someone when they dont scream...right?
Sitting down in one of the chairs, she closed her eyes, rubbing her hand along the back of her neck, trying to make the headache go away. "For how long was I out anyway?" She asked him curiously. She didnt want to bring up the fact that he had knocked her out, quit yet. On her way out of her room, she had smelt the blood and heard him talking to someone. So she had a good feeling that if she were to get up right now, she would find blood packets in the fridge. Question was, how many did he have, and how had he gotten them so quickly? By the smell, it seemed like it was a good chunk of blood. And she didnt feel like she had been out all that long. But that was a question she could ask later.
-Flash Back-
Okay, she couldnt help but chuckle at his words. Because he was absolutely right. He did know her better then most. In this current point in life she had three best friends that were girls, and then she had a fourth best friend that was a guy. Rose, Inora and Nixie were her group of lovies. And she told them everything that occurred in her life and everything that happened. She loved them all more then anyone in the whole world. If anything were to happen to any of them, she would be crushed and heartbroken. She knew that one for a fact. Now Vic, was one of those rare cases where a guy makes it to best friend and is actually told everything. Vic was like her lovies. She told him everything and she loved him dearly. If she were to loose him, she felt like she would be loosing a piece of her heart. Each of her four best friend held a chunk of her heart. If you ripped out a piece...could the heart still function?
"Yes. That is very true. You know me better then a lot of people. Sometimes I think you know me better then myself. As for the quotes, you dont have to quote things to make me feel better Vic. You make me smile and feel better by just being there. And thats the honest truth." She told him, grinning at him slightly. Her death grip on the car was loosening up a bit. Vic always had this amazing way of letting her feel relaxed and at ease. She never had a care in the world when she came to visit and hang out. Its probably why she came to see him when ever she could and as often as she could. If you ever found a place where you were this comfortable, it would be stupid to let it go...right?
Nodding softly, her brown curls spilled over her shoulders and she had to remove one hand from the door handle to flick them back behind her shoulders. "It was a nightmare. You have no idea. Because I mean, how do you really pull off having heart problems enough that you dont have a pulse? I got lucky they didnt send me to the doctors to make sure I wasnt dying!" She giggled softly at the thought and then shook her head. That would have been a disaster. How do you explain to someone that you are a vampire, and you dont have a pulse? Thats right...You didnt. She got lucky that time. "Im glad we are going to have fun. Its why I come to visit you after all. You are my home away from home Vicy." She told him, laughing. But she shuffled in her chair slightly, knowing she needed to tell him why she had really come this way.
"Though I do admit, thats not the reason I came down here for." Finally releasing her hold on the car, she turned in her seat slightly to look at him. "I came to make sure that you were all right and that no one was after you. Like always, I ran into some trouble and I dont want that to get you hurt. Someone was following me in London. They know Im close to Stephan, and if they know that, Im not sure if they know how close I am to you. I dont want him to hurt you." She told him, her eyes serious and concerned. Hopefully, Sevanni Black knew nothing about Victor Ambrose. Hopefully, Vic was safe. She would soon find out though within the next few days if anyone came around and stalked her or Vic. But that was enough of the serious talk and she latched on to his words about his bar.
"Oh I bet it was a lot of work. Those kinds of things take forever. And you'll find a good staff. You are good at reading people and seeing if they are nice or not. So I know you will do just fine." She told him with a gentle smile. Then suddenly, they hit a bump and she was in her seat one minute, in his lap the next. Her face flamed with color and she felt embarrassed. She wanted desperately to move, knowing he must be just as embarrassed as she was. The car came to a park and she quickly removed herself from his lap and cleared her throat, shrugging it off like it wasnt really a big deal. Her cheeks slowly went back to being pale, even though all she wanted to do was keep blushing. But then again, that was the real mystery. Why was she blushing? There had been times where she visited Vic and they watched a movie at his place and she had laid her head in his lap. A casual friend thing to do.
Sure, this was a little different, but it wasnt all that far off. So why had she blushed? And a quick peek over to him and she realized he was blushing too. It was a curious thing that. But she could ponder over it more later. For now, they had parked and arrived at the little cafe that Vic had talked about and that she had decided on. When Vic came over and opened her door for her she looked up at him and tried for a gentle smile. "Thanks Vicy." She said and then hopped out of the car. Walking towards the front door, her eyes seemed a tad distant since she was thinking over a few things, but since she was a vampire, she was very good at multitasking. You could almost say she was on auto pilot. Because even though she wasnt paying attention, she was able to open the door to the cafe without running into the glass.
When the little hostess asked them how many people there were in the group, she snapped out of her thinking and flashed the girl a brilliant smile. "Two." She replied softly and then the waitress led them to their table. Their table ended up being a booth that was in the corner next to one of the large bay windows. The blinds were tilted open and through them you could see the lights of the city. It was breathtaking really. She always loved watching the lights twinkle and dance. Almost like they were laughing. Sitting down across from Vic, the hostess gave them both a menu and told them that their server would be along shortly. Opening the menu, her brown eyes skimmed the page before raising up to look at him. "Is there anything extra good on the menu? Or have you not actually eaten here and only mentioned the cafe to distract me and for my benefit?"

Flash Back Okay then… that was a bit awkward. Victor knew his face must have been slightly flushed with color. It wasn’t every day the girl of your dreams falls into your lap… either literally or metaphorically. But despite that, she has been in his lap before. So why did this make him blush? He played the scene in his head again to understand why. “So. What have you been up to lately?” She asked him. But they hit a bump in the road and none of them were expecting it. Her hand hit the release button for her seat belt and she tipped to the left with a yelp. She ended up in his lap, her face in between his legs, hands on his left thigh, and her stomach spread across his legs. Maybe it was the unexpectedness of it all. Or it could have been the way it looked. The entire situation reminded him of Animals
|
, that Nickelback song. Although the only difference is that what happened to them was completely accidental, and on top of that, nothing happened… but it still reminded him. He turned to her and was about to apologize for the bump and the lap thing, but by the time the car came to a park, she moved quickly, moving off his lap, clearing her throat, and shrugged it off like it never happened. Just move on Victor. What happened happened. Just forget about it and pretend it was just a small figment of your imagination. He got out of the car, throwing his jacket on, and then went to her side of the car to open it. “Thanks Vicy.”“Sure thing.”Once out of the car, he noticed that she was a bit sidetracked… He couldn’t quite figure out why, but as long as she didn’t run into a pole or the door, she would be okay. He’d ask her later. He looked into the side mirror of his car quickly to make sure the color from his face was returned to normal, and surely enough, it was. Thank You.He walked in right behind her just as the hostess asked how many. Ali answered her with her signature smile and soft voice. It also seemed to bring her back to reality, which was a little odd, but it was better than having her a zombie and scaring people. As they were seated, he took the menu. “Is there anything extra good on the menu? Or have you not actually eaten here and only mentioned the cafe to distract me and for my benefit?”It was his first time here, because he never had a reason to stop here before, but he heard it was good. “Well, I didn’t mention the café to distract you, but I haven’t eaten here before, so both your assumptions are incorrect. I did hear from a friend though that this place is good… but we really have different meanings when it comes to the word good in terms of food… So your guess is as good as mine. ” He then smiled and teased her. “I just felt bad for the handle of my car.” Flash ForwardSo much has happened in such a short time. The kiss, the chase, the confession of love, the passing out… oh how so much has happened… but overall, he was really glad to hear that she was okay… although he had a feeling she was hiding something. It was so Ali to tell him the truth, but only the bit that didn’t worry him. He wasn’t going to push. “I got you some blood so that you can feed and heal faster.” He walked to the fridge and pulled out a packet and put it in front of her. “Please?”He was worried about her even though she said she was okay. What made him worry even more though was something she said earlier… “I came to make sure that you were all right and that no one was after you. Like always, I ran into some trouble and I don’t want that to get you hurt. Someone was following me in London. They know I’m close to Stephan, and if they know that, I’m not sure if they know how close I am to you. I don’t want him to hurt you.”What did you get yourself into Ali… This is going to be a LONG week… But honestly… I wouldn’t have it any other way…----------------------------------------------- Word Count: Too Lazy To Check... It's more than 300 words! XD
For the record (to whomever doesn’t know Vic as a character), when he says thank you, he is thanking God, but he doesn’t believe in God or Gods, so thus, he is just thanking for the fact that he isn’t blushing anymore.
And yes Ali… Yes, I went there! Lyrics: You're beside me on the seat Got your hand between my knees And you control how fast we go by just how hard you wanna squeeze It's hard to steer when you're breathing in my ear But I got both hands on the wheel while you got both hands on my gears By now, no doubt that we were heading south I guess nobody ever taught her not to speak with a full mouth 'Cause this was it, like flicking on a switch It felt so good I almost drove into the ditch I'm screamin' No, we're never gonna quit Ain't nothing wrong with it Just acting like we're animals (animals) No, no matter where we go 'Cause everybody knows We're just a couple animals (animals)[/blockquote][/blockquote]

[atrb=width,450,true][atrb=border,0,false][cs=0][bg=000000] Looking at Vic, she could see that he was worried about her. That he wanted her to be okay and to heal up from what little injuries she had. He was tender and sweet and knew how to show it through the simple gestures. And since she knew him better then she knew anyone else in the world, she knew every gesture and every way he walked and moved. She could read what he was feeling just by looking at him. Then again, she hadnt been able to tell he was in love with her. She hadnt even been able to tell she herself was in love with him. It had taken her running away from an accidental kiss that sparked that little thought in her mind. Made her realize what was going on and why every time she touched him, her blood set on fire. Vic was the one she loved. She had loved him for a while now and everything she had ever done in the past up until now were actions that proved it to her. How had she not seen it earlier? How had she been so dense that she couldnt look at him and immediately know he was in love with her and that she loved him just as much and with so much? It was shocking really, and she wanted to smack her own forehead and scold herself. Bad Ali. No cookie.
But a lot had happened since then. And that moment at the airport was a special moment that she had a feeling would remain enfolded in their minds for a very long time. They had both declared their love for each other and they both realized they were meant to be together. From the very start, they were meant to be together. It had just taken them a while to get there. And now with the news she had received, Stephans house gone, and Stephan himself trapped inside, she was as free as a bird. She was free to love and be with who ever she wanted. Mentally scolding herself for that thought though, she closed her eyes and then sat down on the chair that was closest to her. This house, his house, was so familiar to her that she could have walked through it with her eyes closed and not bumped into a single thing. This entire place already felt like home to her. But poor Stephan would never take a breath again. Never be there in his study, drinking an expensive scotch from a crystal glass. She didnt think she would miss the sex or the relationship, but she would miss the person. He had been a good person deep down, hiding that caring part away from the world and only showing the sexual deviant. He had opened up to Ali and she had seen the tender moments from him. The gentle man that had been stamped down by becoming an immortals target.
Had Stephan deserved to die? No. But had he? Yes. And when that place went up, burning the vampire inside, it hadnt only burned his things up. What all she owned and had with her, was now gone and lost in that eternal ember. When the fire station got there, not a single clue as to what happened to Stephan would be found. They would find out who owned the home, who had stayed there, and try to find the owner to inform him. But they would never find Stephan Aleczandr. The romantic era vampire, was gone in a whiff of smoke and flame. A small piece of history, gone just like that. Thinking of Stephan caught in that fire made her think of her own experience where she had come close to death by fire. Her own apartment had set up in flames because of her neighbor leaving a hair dryer on. It had caught so quickly that not even vampire senses could save her. Her savior had come in the form of a werewolf, and he had saved her from dying. A small shudder passed through her petite frame and she bit her lower lip to keep from tearing up. When Vic put the blood packet down in front of her, she looked back up at him. Into his sweet and loving eyes and nodded. She wouldnt say no to him. She didnt really have a fight in her at the moment. And she couldnt argue his point that the blood would help with the injuries.
Taking the blood packet from in front of her, she stood back up and then went to the kitchen. Without hesitation she found the place where the mugs were stashed and took one down for use. She opened the blood packet and then emptied the contents into the mug. She then threw away the bag and went back out to the living room where he was. Sitting back down in her place, she took a small sip, feeling just a tad better as the coppery taste hit her tongue and slid down her throat. Her brown eyes looked back up at him though and she opened her mouth to speak before stuttering to a halt and then trying again. " Would I....Well I mean...Could I..." She sighed in frustration when she couldnt get the sentence out and then taking a deep breath, she made the words move past her lips. "Could I stay here? At least until I can afford to get my own place? I dont have any clothes and...I dont have a place to live anymore...If its too much of a trouble, Ill stay in a hotel." She told him and nodded, her curls bobbing and her hands clinging to the mug of blood. If you looked close enough, there was a slight tremble to her fingers and hands. Another thing she wanted was to be held, but she was far too chicken to ask for that.
------------------------------------------------------
-Flash Back-
Without really thinking about it, her training from Obsidian kicked in. Whether it was because she was confused and needed to let her mind wander else where or whether it was because she felt like she might be in danger, it came to her so easily. Almost like breathing. Her posture didnt change, and nothing about her seemed to change at all. She looked completely at ease and at home in her skin. But her senses were reeling. Her ears picked up the subtle sounds around the tiny cafe, even hearing one of the conversations in the back where the kitchen was. She could hear the radio playing back there and the chef singing along to the song in a very out of tune manner. It almost hurt her ears to listen to it. So she moved on and let her awareness spread out to the rest of the conversations, picking up tidbits here and there. There was a couple fighting over the work hours of each others jobs, another that was on the phone with a best friend, a teen aged couple that werent actually talking and seemed attached at the lips. All this with just her hearing. And by judging the places of their voices, she knew where each of them were seated. From what she had heard, none of them seemed violent or harmful.
She let her senses ease down a bit, but she was still on high alert since she was going to let her mind dive into a place it shouldnt while she was with company. She was confused about that blush and it was bugging her. Not only had she blushed like a very ripe tomato, but Vic had blushed as well. Not once, at least, not since she had slept with him that first night when he was drunk, had she seen him blush. And that drunken night couldnt really count. He didnt remember it, and she didnt have any plans of bringing it up. So in the mind of Victor Ambrose, he had never slept with her before. It was a depressing thought, but also a relief as well. Sleeping with Vic was the first and only time she had ever cheated on someone she was dating. Stephan wasnt really someone you could love full heartily, but she was still with him and it had been wrong to sleep with another man while still being with Stephan. Stephan didnt know either and she didnt know whether to bring it up or not. How would the vampire react to that little bit of information? The two main boys in her life already hated each other. She could only imagine what this would do.
But you couldnt really blame her. When Victor touched her that first time, it had felt like a warm, smooth and yet staticky shock of electricity shot through her veins. It boiled her blood and warmed her from the inside out. Made her crave his touch and crave his skin on hers. It had almost scared her, but she had given in to that temptation. Even now, every time she touched Vic, that delicious shock jolted through her body. She was in more control now though, and so she was able to keep herself from jumping him. With Stephan, it was only a warm burn when they touched. Sure it was loving and some could even consider it passionate, but it didnt hold a candle next to Vic's touch. A touch, that if she were honest with herself, she was addicted to. Lots of times she would think of any and every excuse to touch him or have him touch her. However, that wasnt what was on her mind currently. Shoving away the thought of warm shocks, she thought back to the blushes. They had both been embarrassed when she fell into his lap. Both had wanted to apologize and both wanted to move on from it. That was strange though, seeing as the how she ended up in his lap was the only difference from other instances.
When ever she came to visit, they loved watching movies and they would constantly lay on his bed, on top of the covers, or under the covers if it was a colder night. She snuggled against him, laying her head in his lap or on his chest. And Vic being Vic, would brush his fingers through her hair. Somehow, he had figured out that she loved people running their fingers through her hair and that it calmed her down. The truth behind the matter was that yes, it calmed her down, but it also reminded her of her mother from when she was little. Just before bed, her mother would always tuck her in and then brush her hair with her fingers, humming her to sleep. As a child, she had missed that gesture, and as an adult, the craving for it had never left. Those movie nights were some of the happiest nights she had ever experienced in her life and she wouldnt give them up for anything. And if they could be that close, and be that tender, why were they being so embarrassed and skittish over her falling into his lap? It was an accident after all and there really shouldnt be any problem with it. But yet, something still nagged at her.
Coming out of her train of thought, she grinned at Vic where he sat across from her. "Oh I see. Its not often that Im wrong about something. And we shall find out if the food is good or not. If the food IS good, then you and your friend actually agree on a food place. If the food is awful..well...your words about having different definitions stands true." At his second part of his words, she blushed partly and then stuck her tongue out at him. "Meany. I wasnt that bad. Yes...I clung to the handle, but at least I didnt bend it in....Much." A soft giggle escaped her lips at those words and then she looked up as the waitress came over. The waitress was a beautiful woman. She was tall, leggy, and blonde. And not the type of blonde you got froma bottle. It was that shiny, golden, stun you with one look, blonde. Those golden curls framed a petite little face with bright, remarkable blue eyes. And with the combination of the white shirt and black skirt, her legs looked about a mile long. If Ali had to guess, she would assume she was about Vic's height. The name tag on her shirt read Trudy and she beamed them both a brilliant smile. "Im Trudy...Ill be your waitress today."
Then Trudy turned her head and noticed Vic. Really noticed him. There was a moment where stunned shock passed over her features and then she zapped that smile up even more and put a little flirty tone in her voice. "Anything I can get you? Anything at all?" Unable to help herself, Ali rolled her eyes and then sighed and looked through her menu again. Beautiful women like Trudy always made her feel self conscious, less worthy, not pretty. She couldnt compare and with those thoughts in mind, she practically wilted in her seat, her tender and gentle smile vanishing and her eyes not as bright. Only When Trudy was very sure that she had gotten Vics attention did she turn to Ali with a sneer. "Oh and you too. What would you like?" It was obvious that the blonde didnt want to acknowledge her, but Ali was going to MAKE her notice her. She looked up at her, folding her two hands under her chin and batted her lashes, her eyes flashing from brown to red briefly and then back to brown, and so quickly, had you blinked you would have missed it. "Coffee please. Extra sugar and cream." She told her in such a sweet tone, it could have dripped acid. Trudy seemed stunned and a little shaken from the change of Ali's eyes. She jotted down the order though and then got Vic's drink and trotted off in a hurry.
On the outside, she looked calm and collected, but still wilted. She still thought she didnt compare at all and she only took a small pleasure from scaring the girl. But on the inside, she was horrified at herself. Why had she done that? All because the girl was giving Vic a bit more attention and trying to get him to take an interest? Why would she care about that? My god...was she...jealous?
