Lucy's eyes widened." Uhh. Yeah.. that's what i meant. Sorry." I'm such an idiot, Lucy thought to herself. She was English, yet she barely knew the past tenses. Gosh. Why did English have to be so confusing? She remembered barely when she was just a little child. She remembered being in her first and second grade classes. The teachers always tried to help her. But it never worked. She thought she was hopeless. Ever since then, she wasn't the best with the English language. At least she could speak it fluently. Even though she did have a very thick English accent. She shook her head, somewhat. Trying to refocus on the conversation that Claire was trying to have with Lucy. Lucy did this, zoning out thing, often. She wondered if Claire had noticed. She probably did, everyone did sooner or later.
Lucy looked down at Claire."Why don't you want to go back Claire? It can't be that bad there." It couldn't. Well, at least thats what Lucy thought all the time. You could see people go into the place when their three months old, then come back out when their eighteen, perfectly healthy. And no signs of bruising or anything. But Lucy still pondered on why Claire didn't want to go back so badly. Had something happened there? Lucy wanted to know, but she refused herself from asking. It was none of her business and she assumed that Claire didn't want to talk about it even if something did happen.
Lucy looked up at the night sky. She loved it, even though it was only around for not even six hours. Still, she loved the stars. The different colors, sizes, and brightness of each one of the stars. They were almost like people, unique in their own way. She was interrupted by the random outburst of questions flowing from Claire's mouth. Lucy chuckled a bit. Remembering when she was her age, and asking so many questions at one time." I'm........ Eighteen." Lucy said hesitantly. She didn't want to tell Claire, her 'real' age."Uh, I don't think I'm like Dracula. Do i look like him?" Lucy stood up and brushed off her bottom. Twisting her body to one side then the next. Trying, attempting, to put at least a slight smile on Claire's face. "I don't live in Transylvania, no. I live here. Well for a little. I reside in New York City." Which was true, she was only here for a little while. And now that she had made acquaintances with this girl, she knew it would be all that more harder to have to leave when she had to.

“I don’t wanna go back because..” Why didn’t she want to go back? She hadn’t really thought about it really up until the why was asked. She chewed it over. She didn’t want to go back, well because of the people there. They were mean, snotty, and treated the children like dirty, or filthy scum on the universe. And the building they had lived in was dirt as well. It was almost falling apart, and they could barely afford to pay the bills every couple months. The kids who were old enough had to work extra just to bring some income in. It was very devastating, because shouldn’t children be bought up better? She frowned, crevice’s forming in her pale forehead. She’d have wrinkles by the time she was twenty, or whenever she got out of this slavery like life. She continued to stare at the sky, before clucking her tongue. A lot of people found this fairly annoying. Claire didn’t even know how or why. Did Lucy find it annoying? And if she did, it’d be smart of Claire to stop, if she wanted to keep her throat in check. She was slightly comforted by Lucy’s words, but everyone slipped and went back on a promise once in their life. Claire had more than once though. She was growing up, learning from mistakes and the past. “ I don’t wanna go back..because…of the people there.” True fact.
“Your lying.” She stated bluntly. She could see the age and wisdom beyond Lucy’s age she said. No one was 18 and had the eyes of a much older person. Not unless you were born like that, and Claire doubted Lucy was. Though her looks were of an 18 year old, no one was that stupid. Especially Claire. She would have said something that may have ended up confusing Lucy but decided not too. Claire was in no physical or mentally stable state to do such thing. She sighed. “Tell me your real age Lucy.” She looked at her with those cool blue eyes, a neutral tone in them now.
“What about the girl, who attacked you? What was she like?” Claire imagined her. Long blonde hair, piercings eyes, the ideal image of a vampire princess. But devilish and uncanny all at the same time. Someone you couldn’t trust no matter how much you thought you could, because they’d end up cutting you like a dog in the end. Claire stared intently at Lucy, expecting to get her answer. One way or another.

Lucy peered down at Claire. What had happened to her that made her not want to go back? Did someone hurt her? Or were they just plain stuck up people? But, then again, it was none of Lucy's business and if Claire wanted to tell her, then she was more than welcome to do so. Lucy thought back to the time when her father had left her mother. Lucy never saw her father again, not like she wanted to anyway. She just always thought that she would've turned out better if she had a father figure in her life. Rather than just her older brothers. She always turned to them when she needed to talk to someone about another person making fun of her or something. So she guessed it was like that for Claire also, but then again, she could be completely off.
"Okay...." Lucy started, she didn't know how to ease into this nicely. Without having Claire form an opinion, like all the other people she had met and tried to make friends with." I'm uhh... 325 years old. I was born on June twenty third, 1684. And I was turned into a vampire when i was all but 18." She winced at the last part. Thinking about her sire, well, it always made Lucy break down. From the things that he did to her before he did turn her. She tried to hold back tears, so Claire didn't see her crying. She wiped her eyes a little and made sure her eyeliner wasn't running. 'Even in the worst of times,' Her mother always told her, 'Make sure your makeup isn't running.'
So she wanted to know about Rose huh? Well, there were alot of bad things Lucy could say about her, like how she burned her and made a life long scar on her forearm. And then again there were some good things about her. Lucy tried to remember these things, but, it was almost useless. The only thing that Lucy remembered about Rose was that she burned her and the events leading up to that incident. "Well, she seemed nice in the beginning. But then again, everyone does. I met her in a store. A ball-gown store. Just shopping for something to do, and i took the liberty of introducing myself and helping her find a decent dress that i thought was okay. Then we wandered outside, looking for something to eat. So we then ate and then she wanted to 'test' my abilities. So she picked a fight with me. And we fought, and then out of no where she pulled out a lighter in her pocket and..." Lucy didn't think that she wanted to finish that because of Claire's delicate little mind and emotions. She didn't know if Claire would be able to handle what had happened to her, so she switched to another topic.
"Well. She was a little shorter than me. Without her heels on, i would guess she was 4'9" or 5ft even. She had blonde hair like me, a little lighter probably. She was short, but when you saw her fight or anything, she was a pro at it. She was short, but she sure did beat me pretty good that day." That was pretty much all that Lucy could say about her, that she could remember anyway.

4'9? Whoa, that was shorter then Claire who stood at about 5'2. And she thought that she was short. Claire listened intently when Lucy told her sister, so that burn mark was from another vampire? "So what, you guys are sentenced to be burned by fire?" A lovely way to go down. A lovely way indeed. Especially if you burned nicely and slowly, the fire working itself slowly up the length of a person. She cringed, a painful way to go indeed. Lucy seemed to get off easy with that burn. If the vampire had more time, would she have killed Lucy? She paled a little, if Lucy had been killed on that night, then..would Claire still be on that ledge? Probably close to Hypothermia? And for once Claire was more grateful then that Rose had run out of time. Because if she had successfully killed Lucy, then that would have lead up to Claire's death. Cheery. She swallowed uncomfortably.
Lucy had gotten beat? By a vampire who was shorter then Claire?! Now that said something, this chick wasn't something to wrung around with. Claire hoped that she wouldn't have met Rose, or Rose popped up to save her instead of Lucy. She probably would have torn Claire apart. Was Melanie a vampire then? Because they had been so different looking, and Melanie seemed to sense her emotions better then Claire could even herself. Once again, grateful for Lucy. She sighed in deeply, inhaling the dewy mountain. Her eyes slowly closed, was it close to sunrise? She still had to go to the hospital. And..if the myths were true Lucy couldn't be out in the sun? Right? She'd go up in ashes..or flames..or even leave behind a fragment of bones. Ech. "Uhm..Lucy..you might want to get me to a hospital..before..the sun comes up.." She said slowly.
She wouldn't spend the night in the hospital. Heck no. She suddenly felt fairly faint, her eyelids fluttering. Nausea? Dementia? Would she go insane? Get a nice old strait jacket? The loon bin? Would the white doctors become her new best friends? Now she was being absurd. Little children couldn't go to the insane asylum. Right? She swallowed uncomfortably again, and looked at Lucy waiting for her next move. What would she do?

Lucy looked down at the girls question. "Well, yes. That is surely one way to go." She hadn't really thought about it herself, but yes, surely that was one way to, dismembera vampire. And yes Rose was very shorter than Lucy, but she was bumped up a couple of inches because of her wearing her heels. She was about 5'3 that night, Lucy's original height. But also Lucy was wearing heels that night, she then was 5'6. Lucy kind of wishes that Rose and her would have became friends, or at least close to it. But then again, she would have to not burn Lucy again, she could've killed her that night, she couldn't imagine what could happen if they were in her house. More fire maybe?
Lucy darted her almost now, silver, eyes across the horizon. Great, it was almost the start of sunrise. And Lucy had no idea where the nearest hospital was. And if she brought Claire into the hospital, they would need Lucy's ID, which she never carried with her, unless she had her wallet. And today, she didn't. "Uhh right. Well, since i can almost tell you don't really want to go to the hospital, I know a friend and shes a doctor, she could help her if you would like that instead?" She hoped Claire would say yes, because if she didn't then Lucy would be prone to an excellent blood source. And Lucy didn't want Claire to see that side of her. Ever. Lucy stood up again and brushed off her back side.
She adjusted her shorts and shirt and picked up Claire gently and adjusted so that her legs weren't impacted by any pressure that Lucy had so that she wouldn't fall. She flipped her sunglasses down over her eyes and began a swift walk out of the mountain range. She knew that if Claire wanted to go either way Lucy would have to get a head start now, if she wanted to make it before the sun rose.

So now she was sneaking around. She had snuck out from her orphanage, and now going home with a vampire. Especially a vampire that she had just met, and seemed to get into quarrels alot. Hmm, not especially the smartest thing. But then again, the sun was coming up, and Lucy couldn't stay out for much longer. And the girls at the orphanage would start waking up and might notice that she left. Not a good mixture. "I want to go home with you." She said stubbornly, the doctor friend could check her out, and then they would possibly move from there. Now that, seemed like a poorily planned..plan. But then again, she was practically a fuitive so she could do what she wanted. Right? Only one way to find out, and that was to take a chance and leap.
That's what'd she have to do. If she wanted to survive in this rough and tough life of hers. An orphan at a young age, she grew up learning how to be tough. But sometimes strong people crashed and burned, but then again, what person didn't? People always crashed under pressure, under a constant nagging to do something perfectly. When truthfully nothing could be done perfectly. And so Claire had to try as hard and as long as she could to become the object of perfection. But she was jsut a child. Nothing more, she didn't need pressure or she might suffer cardiac arrest!
And then she was in Lucy's arms, though she only felt it waist up. Her heart panged at this thought. Maybe Lucy's doctor friend could fix her. Hopefully. She bristled as she saw the sun peak further up over the horizon. If Lucy didn't get somewhere dark soon, Claire was as good as gone. She really hoped that Lucy had fast legs on her, or else they were gone. Gone for good. Lucy turned to dust, and Claire locked up in an orphanage. Claire blinked, Lucy should be fast, right? She was a vampire, enhanced senses? Yeah, so she shouldn't be worrying, right? No, she was good. All in good hands. But she couldn't shake off that nervous feeling just yet..

Lucy knew this would be better than knowing that Claire was going to go back to the awful place. She flickered her eyes down to Claire. Not knowing if she saw her or not. The sunglasses were dark, which is what she wanted."Okay, well if we wanna get out of here now, which we do, then you need to do this." Lucy picked up the hood of the sweatshirt with one hand and placed it over Claire's head. She knew that it would more likely droop over her eyes, but that might be better for her. The first run for many people that Lucy had to carry was very dramatic for humans. And she didn't want Claire to have a panic attack while she was trying to get back to her house. "Keep the hood up, no matter what happens okay?"
Lucy braced Claire securely in her arms so that she had a firm grip and she could trust herself to run at her top speed while holding her. Lucy looked up. The sun was almost fully over the horizon, which meant that she had to go faster than she was accustom to. But anything was better than perishing right? Of course it was. She picked up her pace, every now and then checking on Claire to make sure she was okay. Lucy's hair whipping back behind her head from the immense speed she was going. Lucy hoped Claire was okay, she seemed like it, but who knows what she was thinking. Lucy picked up the pace a bit, they were heading into town and she didn't want people noticing them. So, at that very instant, She found a close dumpster and jumped onto it fallowed by jumping on the roof of a building.
Lucy flickered her eyes back down to Claire making sure she was fine. She looked ahead and before she began again spoke to Claire."Now this next part might be scary but just hold on and you'll be fine." Lucy picked up the pace almost launching to the other side of the building and jumping at the last second landing on the building right across from the one she leaped off of. Planting her feet on the roof and doing the same for about a dozen more buildings. She finally reached her house and leaped off the roof. A good 13 feet drop, but she was okay with that. She planted her feet on the ground and checked on Claire. Lucy knew this was alot for her to handle, especially because of her age. But she had to do that for her to get home safely. She sprinted to the front door and opened the door wide and plopped Claire on her couch just as the sun was rising. She ran over and slammed the door shut and fell to the floor against the door.

She felt sick. More than motion sickness sick. Puke your guts up and do the whole cycle again, kind. She was dizzy, and could see straight for more than a few seconds. Never again, would she ever do that. She'd rather spend a whole week in insolation then go through the crazy, joy ride. Always the safer choice. The choice that would keep her alive for longer. Since compared to Lucy, her life was insignifcant and short. Like herself at this moment. A small little flick in Lucy's immortal life. She would grow older, and surpass Lucy's age and face. Lucy would remain young and adolescant, and Claire would grow old, and wrinkly. White haired. Ugly. Her stomach lurched into her throat again. She never jumped from high places again. Not even if her life depended on it. In fact, she thought she had become permantly afraid of heights after this little stunt. Never again. Ever. In a thousand years. No, more like a decade. She sighed. A millenium?
She rolled out of Lucy's hands, landing softly on her tush. Her head up towards the ceiling, her eyes wide. A little bit in shock. This was the craziest night she had had since..ever. Never once when her parents were alive did she sneak out. Nor did she ever try and sneak out during her foster homes, and oprhanages. It was just too risky. And the punishments were more brutal then they should have been. Much more. More then legal, and less than illegal. Brutally. And you never got the same one twice. They always thought up of new ways to make you pay, for even the smallest of mistakes. Like forgetting to make your bed. Talk about a Hard-Knock life. Two bad she couldn't sing, and didn't have red hair. She'd be a modern day Annie. But then again, she wasn't. She wouldn't grow into the riches. But if Melanie was rich, or wealthy, she might. But who knew? There was a little something Claire believed in, it was called fate.
She rolled onto her side, staring at Lucy. She was in a stranger's home. A vampire stranger's home. How safe was that? Not at all. She frowned, she should be leaving right now back to the orphanage. But that wouldn't be safe at all. She could get punished extremely bad. But, what if Lucy didn't let her go. She shot her eyes at her, then the area surronding them. There was a few sharp pointy objects that could come in handy. She leaned back on her small knees and cleared her throat. She didn't know if Lucy got mad easily, and suggesting by those scars, she was a good fighter. She swallowed before speaking. Might as well sound brave. These words might be her last ones spoken. "I think I should be getting back now.."

Lucy looked up from the hardwood floor and over to Claire. She ran her long fingers through her blonde hair, pushing it back far enough that she couldn't see it. She scanned her eyes among the place. She should've cleaned up better and as if on cue heard Claire tell her that she should go. Lucy looked back over at Claire and nodded. If you want to go, then you can, but i can't go with you. So you would have to go by yourself Lucy stood up and pulled out a chair from the table almost beside the door and sat down. There was the door, if she did want to go by herself. Lucy looked around and felt hunger creep up in her stomach. Great, that was all that she needed right now. She glanced over at Claire and noted, Would you excuse me for a moment?
Lucy darted through the house to the upstairs kitchen, and over to the refrigerator. Where she kept some vials of blood, encase somethings like this were to happen in the daylight, and Lucy had no way of getting some blood. And then, if she never got any, going insane and attacking anyone that came near her. She pulled the door open and searched the refrigerator for the vials. She found some and noticed that she only had two left. Good enough, she would have to get some later that night. She unscrewed the tops and guzzled them down just like that. She wiped her mouth and placed the vials into the sink. She closed the door and walked over to her bed. She was so tired, but she couldn't sleep until she knew weather or not Claire was going to leave or stay. So she opened her eyes wide and walked to the bathroom. She brushed her teeth, trying to remove any clue that would give Claire the motion that she was drinking blood while she was in the house.
She glided back downstairs not knowing if she would be there or not. And if she had left, hopefully she would've left the door closed and not open. But then if she was there, Lucy didn't know what to do, she was exhausted and she wanted to just sleep.

She left, closing the door behind her. She ran down the steps, and ran the opposite direction of the house. Right. Claire knew she was stupid, obviously stupid. Running around with mythical creatures. She was so stupid! They didn't exist, they only did in silly little fairy books. Nothing like this would happen to her. Why? Because she wasn't lucky enough. She wasn't special enough. She wasn't 'blessed' with the looks of an angel, to attract either sex of those races. She wasn't. She just wasn't. Somewhere along the lines of life this happened. Her life had cursed her, or some other higher being. She didn't want to say god, because when she prayed for a better life, nothing came. Nothing happened. She had given up around the age of 6. Such a young age to give up on, but she had too. She couldn't go on chasing dreams that would never chase back. She just had to give up, and at such a young age, she relied on nothing but herself. Nothing but raw belief. And since no one was willing to believe or do anything for her, she didn't care. Didn't care for so long.
Her lungs felt like they were going to burst. Burst from exhaustion. Burst from..everything. Tears were streamed across her eyes, the wind’s doing. Her eyes, legs, arms, entire body stung. Her shoulders sagged as she stopped at a corner, taking deep, engulfing breaths in. She had never run this much, in…forever. Her body quavered and she had that weird taste right under her bottom teeth. A mixture of blood with a lot more iron then it should have. She didn’t want to breath in from her mouth because it felt like it was already taking in to much oxygen to handle, and that one more breath would snap her jaw. She rested her hand on the street lamp, bent over, trying to regain normal breathing. If that existed any longer with her. She couldn’t even tell reality with this thing. Vampires. Werewolfs. Humans. Coexisting in the same world. Same streets. Same..houses. Same families.
Did she know any vampires? Werewolfs? Beside’s Lucy she didn’t think so. How could she tell the difference. She stood up straight, and resumed walking slowly. She enjoyed the sun, though, she stumbled a few times, unable to know what her legs were doing. Then, right outside the orphanage, she slipped. She tried to throw her hands out in front of her, but wasn’t able to break her fault. Her hands slipped and her head cracked on the pavement. But no one stopped. Only one. And this person only seemed like she half cared. Sweetie are you alright? Can you hear me? She said, her face screening in and out of view. Claire tried to form the words to say no but she couldn’t. Her head hurt. Her lungs hurt. Her legs hurt. She wanted to sleep. Yes..she wanted to drift off and dream. Sleep. The eternal world that never left your imagination. She wanted that right now. She closed her eyes, not even aware of what was going on around her.
