"He can want whatever, but he won't get it.."
Like a kit with its tail tugged the vamp went on the defensive. Couldn't blame her really, La Mort knew what it was like to feel completely helpless at the hands of vicious beings when all you wanted to do was kill each and every one of them, slowly.
Neither she nor Eugene were the types to question anyone who sought sanctuary behind Elefang's doors. Discretion was key when dealing with some of the more temperamental bunch, and with the same voice she used to cut them down to size Morty could just as easily drizzle on the sugar. So it was interesting to have her harmless remark returned with an odd sort of tension.
In all honesty the tease was aimed at the wolfling's eagerness. But for the blood-drinker to immediately take it upon herself as an offending remark said more than hours of therapy ever could.
A sore spot perhaps?
Interesting...
"It was a momentary lapse. A warm touch to an undead such as myself is like heroin. The same as it would be if you were to put your skin alongside mine."
"Mmhm."
She says simply in a tone of acknowledgment, rolling the cigar between her teeth as she absently pulled out a card half way before pushing it back in at the last moment.
"My lover is coming to join me here in New Orleans as soon as possible because of ... Work commitments."
The shuffling stops.
Granite blues flicked up from the deck, staring into the mid-distance for just a few moments as she processed certain things and shifted the thoughts around in her head ,rearranging certain preconceptions and ideas, like a giant puzzle.
Then it was back to slowly toying with the pack.
"I see."
Oh the audacity!
This human, this mortal, this creature with no special powers whatsoever ,was treating a vampire with all nonchalant nature of a bored feline. And for someone with the knowledge that she could just as easily be thrown hard against the wall as a paper cup, she didn't seem to care much...
"Read your cards, and they will tell you I will not touch him outside of Elefang,"
In the face of an oncoming tantrum by the vampette, the human doesn't even flinch at the verbal lash, instead she peeks at her chosen card and feels a smirk creeping on as she looks it over.
"La Amant. It's such a fickle ting, disappearin and then comin back, disappearin and comin back again. You never wanna see it ever again even when you searchin for it..."
The card is slipped back in the deck, then carefully secreted into a pocket. Pushing herself off the pillar she oozes on past the smoking vampette, barely brushing her from behind as she walked with a gentle bump-bump of her hips from side to side. Typical Bayou Queen walk.
"You like beignets cher?"
