Aubrey's delicate hands gripped the wooden Step as she climbed up the side of the wooden Tree house. She tried to focus on the approaching wooden structure and not allow her eyes fall down to the ground. Even after being given immortal life, she was slightly afraid of heights. No. That was incorrect. Aubrey loved heights. What Aubrey hated and was terrified of was climbing on a faulty, thin, homemade ladder that God only knew the age of.
Her hands reached the old wooden floor. A breath of relief escaped her mouth as she pulled herself up and into the house. Someone, a very long time ago, had taken very special care with building this. It was a large tree house that would have been envied, even now in it's worn and battered condition. There was even a makeshift bridge leading to a neighboring tree. It was rather amazing. When she had found it Shaden was the first person she had wanted to share it with.
They had repaired all of the initial damage and even hoisted up blankets and bean bags. This was their special hide away. Cards still littered a section of the floor where Shaden had been trying to teach her how to play poker.
Aubrey cuddled down into one of the bean bags, pulling on one of Shadens sweaters. She sighed. She hoped that he took what she was going to say to him easily. She loved him and she didn't want to hurt him. She had to be honest to him, he deserved so much more than her. She eventually fell asleep enfolded in the bean bag and wrapped in Shaden's sweater. His scent floating over her. Her lips parted in a dreamy smile.

Shaden stared up at the tree house for a few minutes. Then looked around to make sure he couldn't see anyone. He reached for the wooden steps and started to climb up. His mind was calm, and clear. For the first time in awhile he was finally truly relaxed. He remembered when Aubrey had first drug him here. Even he was slightly surprised at how much work someone had put into it.
It looked even better not that they had fixed the place up a bit. It was an interesting place to get away to. To just relax and be together.
He pulled himself up into the tree house. Shaden noticed Aubrey at once. That sweet dreamy smile on her lips, and her wrapped in his sweaters. He shook his head slowly and smile to himself. Shaden just sat there for awhile watching her. But finally moved closer to her. His fingers brushed across her cheek. Across her parted lips, and down her neck and back up again.
"Aubrey." He whispered close to her face. His breath moving over her cheeks. He hated to wake her. She was so peaceful when she was asleep.

Her hazy eyes opened slowly. She smiled. It took her a minute to realize that Shaden was actually standing in front of her. A sudden wave of doubt shot through her mind. She knew that she didn't want to do this, but she was beginning to question whether she really could.
Aubrey had to break it off with Shaden. Not because she didn't want to be with him, because she did. She wanted to run away with him and spend eternity doing nothing but loving him, but she couldn't. Her life didn't get to be so easy.
She lazily stretched up and reached her arms out to him. This would all eventually make sense, but for now it had to be this way. She smiled sadly up at him. She wanted him to curl up on the bean bag with her. Tomorrow night everything would have to be different, but for tonight she could still be his. Tucked away secretly they could be together.

Shaden smiled at her as her eyes opened up. He saw the emotions running just behind her eyes. She was good at hiding her feeling. Shaden wished she'd just come out and say what was on her mind. She didn't need to hide things from him. He was a big boy and he could handle what ever she said to him. Or so he thought anyway. He had no clue what she was thinking about. But her sad smile caught him a bit off guard. He did his best not to show that it had bothered him or that he'd even noticed the sadness hidden away in her eyes and smile. Like she was about to do something she hated to even think about. Something she would rather die then do.
He ignored it. He wasn't about to spend this time with her thinking about crazy ideas and the emotions she was showing. It would be pointless. The time would come when she finally said what she needed to, and there wasn't any reason to rush what it was.
He laid down next to her on the bean bag, putting his arms tightly around her. His eyes stared into her, not once looking away. But he didn't say anything. Why ruin the moment with questions and bullshit comments. He just wanted to be with her. Hold her. Shaden couldn't help but think about when he'd first realized her loved her. It was strange for him. He'd been trained, and tortured to let such human emotions go. But somehow he maneged to open his heart just a little. Then she'd come along and pushed it open even more. He hadn't been ready for it then. But now it was too late. He couldn't let go of her.

Aubrey curled up into him and sighed. She smiled softly as he watched her, the sadness leaking out of her expression. She couldn't do it. Relief washed through her body as she pressed against him. She couldn't leave him. She couldn't even temporarily leave him.
Aubrey looked away from him and tucked her head under his chin. Her fingers found his and she began absently tracing them. "I wanted you to come here because I thought that it would be better if we weren't together anymore."
Guilt slammed her. He had allowed her to bring him into the coven just to be with her. She had almost throw everything that he had done for her away. She pulled up and leaned over him brushing her lips over his face.
"I can't. I can't leave you. It's not fair to you being with me. I can't get away from Xavier. I feel him. I feel his thoughts and his emotions." She pressed her forehead against his. "I can never fully belong to you as long as I am bonded to him. I didn't think that was very fair to you."
She kissed his nose. "I can't be without you. I need you." She kissed his cheeks. "I love you. I know that this is all so selfish of me, but i will die without you." She nuzzled her face into his neck, breathing his scent in. "Does that make me a bad person?"

Shaden could tell it was coming. What ever it was she was thinking about was about to be said. He waited in silence. And when finally she said the reason for them being here, his breathing stopped. She was going to leave him? He found himself confused. How would it have been better? Although she didn't know him before, so of course in her mind it would be better, but not for many innocent people he would have gone out and killed.
Before her, Shaden had been almost as bad as Xavier, but Shaden had still felt feelings for some people. He wasn't a heartless monster. But a monster none-the-less. To think what he would have done if she had gone through with her little plan. Shaden sighed and closed his eyes for a moment.
It was okay. She hadn't done it. Everything was going to be fine. He started his slow breathing once more. With the hand she didn't have a hold of, he reached up and ran his fingers gently through her hair.
He stared into her face with a soft smile on his lips. He wasn't angry with her. He would never be angry at her. This wasn't her fault. None of it was. It was Xavier's. Again he listened to her in silence. Waiting for her to be finished.
"No, Angel, that doesn't make you a bad person. Don't even think that." He whispered. His hand travels slowly up and down her back as he thought of the best thing to say. "I don't care about whats fair and whats not fair. I love you. I love you more then you know." It was just the start of the millions of things running through his mind. "I would do anything for you. And I understand that your bonded to him. But he turning out to be a very hated man. I bet he wont be around much longer." He said and a smirk came onto his lips.
"This is hurting you. I know it is so don't lie to me," He took in a deep breath of her scent before going on, "Its hurting you because you think your being selfish. But your not the only one being selfish, Aubrey, I could have stopped this a long time ago. I could have left you alone. But I was too selfish, I wanted you. Needed you to live. And now your trying to turn yourself into the bad guy." His eyes closed again. "You have no clue what I would do just so you would never have to feel pain. Or shed one tear. Your my whole life now Aubrey. Without you I'd be nothing. I would die." He took another deep breath. This was the most he'd talked in a very long time. And it felt odd for him to talk about his feeling so deeply like this, and yet at the same time it felt nice.

Aubrey softly collapsed back onto Shaden, enfolding herself back into his arms. She snuggled down against him. She sighed. This was one of the reasons that she loved him. He was more than willing to excuse her connection to Xavier. He just wanted to love her. No stipulations. No innuendo's. No strict conditions. He just wanted to be with her.
She smiled softly into his chest. How could she have thought that she could have went through with this. She needed Shaden, she didn't just want him.
"I can't be without you." Aubrey watched small lightning bugs flitter about outside of the treehouse. She sighed happily.

Shaden continued to run his hands through her hair. He still couldn't over the fact that she wanted him. He'd never would have thought someone like her would come to love him. Or that he would love her. But he was glad it happened. More then glad. "I can't be without you either, and I don't have any plans on trying to." He said softly
He smiled as he turned his head to the side and watched outside. Every few minutes looking down at Aubrey. Sometimes kissing the top of her head.

Perfectly content settled in their little tree house Aubrey sighed and looked up at him. "What were you like before?" She flipped back over so she could look at him comfortably. She rested on top of his chest. "What did you want to do before you got turned?"
Aubrey knew Shaden was old, really old. She had never taken any time to learn anything about his past. He knew hers. It wasn't exciting or romantic. There were so many different reasons why the vampires she knew had all been changed. Hers was the most pathetic.
She peeked down at him through her long lashes. She wouldn't want to tell her, she knew he was already afraid that she would thin he was a bad person. There was nothing that he could say or do to make her not love him. She just wanted to know everything about him.

Shaden sighed, looked at Aubrey and away again. "I was a bad boy as a human, I guess you could say. I went out all the time to get away from my abusive father, who had already planned for me to join the army." He looked back at her, "I didn't have much of a choice when it came to my future." He looked up at the ceiling as he went on, although his eyes seemed to be somewhere else. "My mom died the year I turned 20. My dad had finally killed her. But of course he was a man so nothing happened to him." He licked his lips "I hated that man and everything he'd done to me and my mom. So I killed him. Then ran away from England."
"I went to France for awhile, and thats where I was turned by a women named Juliet at the age of 21. She turned me into a monster." He didn't add that he had in fact enjoyed being what he was. That he liked the killing. Or the fact that he was still like that, it was just around her that he was able to be calm, and sweet.
Shaden would be as honest as he could with her, he'd answer her questions, but sometimes he might leave little things off.

Aubrey watched him very carefully. She hated when Shaden wouldn't tell her the entire truth. It made her feel like he really didn't fully trust her. "I'm sorry about your mother." She spoke softly, but it was sincere. She really wasn't sure what to say. She hadn't had alot of time with her father. She didn't remember him at all and she was only six when her mother died. Those memories were scattered and vague.
She pulled herself up and kissed him softly, grazing his stubble with her thumb. She pulled away and took his hands into hers. She had watched Blake's shop for him while he was completing his transformation. She was sure that she had become a fairly good palm reader. "Well, I suppose we will have to find out how much of a monster you really are." She watched him carefully for a moment before tearing her eyes away.
She began tracing his wrist, slowly bringing her hand back around his palm. She repeated the motion, closing her eyes for a mere second. She took a deep breath. "You have three main lines on your palm, each which indicates a separate area of your life. Your love line is the line on the top, your head line is in the middle, and your life line is on the bottom." She traced each line slowly, keeping her eyes closed. "Unlike your zodiac sign, which you’re born with, the lines on your palm are not fixed from birth. As you progress through your life, your palm lines will form and change according to your personality and experiences. Therefore, your life determines what your palm looks like, rather than the appearance of your palm determining your life."
Aubrey smiled at him as she opened her honey eyes. "I could learn all that I wanted to from you from your palm alone. Palm reading is not a form of fortune telling. I can’t tell you what will happen in your life, rather, I will read to you what has already happened." Excitement danced in her eyes. "Here goes."
"Your love line starts in between your middle and index finger. This would usually indicate that you really have no care for romantic interaction, but because it stretches out to the edge of your hand and then tilts up, that tells me that you have fallen in love with someone and you've never really loved anyone before her." Aubrey blushed as she traced his second line.
There is a slight break in your head line which means that you have suffered from a severely traumatic event. This crossing between the two life and head lines shows that because of that one event, your life was altered in a way that deterred from your original path. This sloping in your head lines means that you are immensely creative."
Aubrey glanced up at him once and smiled shyly. She felt silly. She felt a new blush rise in her cheeks and she turned her eyes back down to his palm. "You're life line is interesting. This line that is connected to your life line indicates that you have people trying to control your life. Your life line is very long and deep, so that shows that you are fighting the control. This extra line here means that you have a new influence in your life that brings and feeds extra vitality and positivity around you."
She sighed softly. "This break indicates a sudden change in your beliefs and lifestyle." Aubrey's eyes widened and she gasped. Her gaze flicked back up to Shaden. "No monster lines." She placed his hand against her heart and crawled back into his lap. She kissed him softly. "You're no monster my love, but if you were I would save you and bring you back to grace."

Shaden smiled "Well I must say thats a first for me. I've never had my palm read. Thats very interesting." He said as he looked down at his palm. He sighed "Its also fairly surprising how right you can be just by looking at someones hand." He sighed and put his hands on either side of her face, then lowered his lips to her own. His eyes becoming deep pools of desire as he watched her through half lowered eye lids. One hand moved from her face to her waist where his hand slipped under her shirt, tracing small circles around her belly button.
He sighed happily as he released her lip, "Speaking of fighting control, I was thinking about going to New York for a few days to talk with Massimo." He really didn't want to talk to him but it was time this whole thing stopped between them. Shaden wouldn't be owned by anyone.

Aubrey was more than happy to accept his kiss. She leaned into him and his fingers trailed over her skin. He sent tiny shivers over her body. She pouted teasingly when he pulled away. Aubrey didn't want him to leave, but he needed to settle with Massimo.
"Do you want me to come with you?" She nuzzled her face against his. Xavier would allow Shaden to go, only because it would mean the two of them being separated for a time. He wouldn't want her going which made her want to go even more.
She didn't like the thought of Shaden going by himself either way. What if Massimo tried to prevent him from coming back to London?

Shaden smiled rebelliously, Aubrey coming with him was bound to piss the wonderful Xavier off. And he was always liked to piss him off whenever he could. It was new habit for him. He nodded, "I think it would be best if you came. Just because I don't know if Massimo will try anything. He might try to make me stay in New York." Of course the chances of Massimo being able to do that were unlikely but still it would be safer to have Aubrey with him just in case.
He shook his head, "I can't wait to finally be through with that man. He would hurt people he didn't even really know for his own personal gain." Shaden had been forced to be with Massimo for a long time now. Almost a hundred years. He would be happy when it was finally over and done with, but with Massimo, you never know what he would do.

Aubrey bent down and kissed Shaden more forcefully. She was ecstatic that he wanted her to go with him. She smiled against his lips. Soon we can be rid of both of the men hanging over our heads" Aubrey leaned over him and kissed his neck.
She slowly made a trail up to his ear. She brushed her lips lightly against it and then nibbled on his lobe. She sighed, pressing against him further. "And then we wouldn't have to worry about anything anymore. We could just be together.
Aubrey tugged at his shirt, wanting him to pull it off.
