Pressing a finger to his lips, Aaron pulled Noir back a little, out of direct sight of the vampire if he should look their way. Quite often, vampires were sensual and seductive creatures and he didn't want Noir to fall under the spell.
He knew from observation that this vampire liked his prey to be pretty, young, women and, Aaron flushed a little as he admitted it to himself, Noir was all of those things. That was why he had said nothing skimpy, in the hope that she might be less of a target if she was more covered up than most of the women who went partying around this area.
Peering around the corner, Aaron watched the vampire approach a solitary young women of about 23 and even from this distance it was clear that she was already tipsy, and that she was already very charmed. "Look." He whispered, "He's picked up his victim, it won't be long before he feeds from her." Hesitantly, Aaron put his hand against the top of Noir's arm. "You might not want to watch. First he'll break her neck and then drain her. It's not very nice to witness." He added with concern. He felt kind of responsible for showing her proof, but not to the extent that she might end up throwing up from the experience.

Noir stares at the vampire in a transfixed way, but stays silent at Aaron's gesture to do so. She's just pretty amazed how close she is to something she writes about. To think what she could learn from talking to him astounds her to the point where Noir thought she might go up and try to talk. But that would be very, very stupid.
She fidgets in a nervously excited way at the mention of feeding, but feels the color drain from her face. It certainly didn't sound pleasant, not at all. Noir looks over to Aaron and smiles with a quick nod. "Yeah, I might get a bit queasy," She whispers. "I'll look away before that."

Aaron nodded, shifting from foot to foot, feeling anxious for some reason. Glancing upwards, the moon was a pale crescent in the sky, just visible between the tall buildings. Aaron usually tried to avoid his little excursions for a night or two either side of the full moon, when werewolves were at their most dangerous.
Looking quickly over his shoulder, Aaron felt a shiver run down his spine. He had the distinct feeling that they were being watched, but by who or what, he was unsure. "Noir... I think we ought to leave soon." He didn't mention his paranoia, in case he startled her, but Aaron's gut instinct was, more often than not, correct.

A wind blows by them, and Noir doesn't pay much attention to it until her long hair is blown into her eyes, blocking her view of the vampire. With a small huff of annoyance, Noir tucks it all behind an ear, then looks to the vampire again. She glances over to Aaron when he speaks, then cocks her head to the side slightly.
"Okay...hey, are you alright? You look a little jumpy," Noir raises an eyebrow minutely, then looks back to the vampire, as if to make sure he hadn't done anything "vampy" while she was turned around. With a quick turn of her head, Noir puts her attention back to Aaron.

"I'm...I'm perfectly fine! Why would I be jumpy?" He whispered, giving a slight smile and trying to appear happy and jovial. However, displaying emotions he didn't feel was not one of Aaron's strengths.
Peering over Noir's shoulder, Aaron put his attention back on the vampire. Aaron could tell that he was not far from a kill. "Don't look." Raising a hand to cover Noir's eyes, Aaron quickly shut his own and that was when he heard the snap of a neck breaking. It was also, right about then that he felt something brush past him and the skin of his hand tingled. He knew the feel of rough fur, and it sent shivers down his spine.
Snapping open his eyes, they zeroed back in on the spot where the vampire had been standing, just as the young woman began to scream. Horrified, Aaron saw that it was the vampire that had had his neck snapped, not the woman, and it was most likely the large furry thing that brushed past him that had done it.

Noir nods, eyebrow still raised at his trying reassurance. She just smiles and turns back to the subject of observation. Noir blinks slowly and seldom, not wanting to miss a second of what the vampire does, the gestures he takes, his body language. It's all going in her mental stash of notes and information for future books.
"Wha-...oh, right," Noir closes her eyes under Aaron's palm for extra protection, shuddering at the sickening crunch of bone. Her teeth go down and bites her lip to keep from making a small noise that could either be something akin to fear or pity for the victim. She wasn't sure which. But then that woman starts screaming, Noir places both her hands on Aaron's. Her voice trembles. "...Aaron...what happened-?" She knows something must have gone wrong, considering the woman could still make noise.

Drawing in a shuddering breath, Aaron whispered hoarsely. "The vampire is dead." Swallowing, he removed his hand from in front of Noir's eyes, grasped her shoulders and pulled her away.
"We haven't been seen." He muttered. "The police will be here soon and we cannot get involved." Then he continued to chant 'cannot get involved', under his breath for a minute or two, like some kind of mantra. But it didn't seem to be working as far as calming Aaron was concerned, his hands were still shaking by the time that they were nearing Imperial College again.
Whatever killed the vampire had to have been strong, also fast to have disappeared without a trace in such a short space of time. Then, add in the furry thing that had brushed past him moments after the murder had occurred, and the only logical creature that could spring to mind was a werewolf. It would have to have been a seasoned one, to be able to transform without the full moon, and one that snapped necks instead of ripping the victims to pieces. Puzzling.
"I'm sorry. I had no idea that it would end like this. I'm so sorry." Aaron said, finally stopping a few streets away from his halls and putting his head in his hands.
