It was late at night. There were flashing lights and glow sticks, blasting techno and people were packed in tight. Drinks were being handed around, as well as designer drugs and unknown substances.
Estella was trying her best to look like she was having fun, but in reality she wasn't. She was stuck at some club with her (only) friend, Ashley. Ashley was a human. They'd been friends for awhile now, and boy did Ashley love to party. One of the reasons Ashley became Estella's best friend was because of her striking resemblance, in both personality and looks, to her beloved deceased twin sister; Louisa.
Estella felt out-of-place. She was in a tattered black dress and wore her murky green ribbon around her neck. She looked younger than her age, and sounded it, too. Sixteen was too young to be at a club like this, but her vampiric powers let her get in with Ashley.
Of course, Ashley was non-the-wiser about her vampirism, and she liked it that way. There was no reason to turn Ashley, and she liked having a normal friend.
The music got louder as a more popular song came on. Someone offered her some X. She refused and said to Ashley; "Can we please go? It's twelve midnight!"
Estella smelt vampires all over the place. There had to be three or four others in this club at least. Estella wanted to get out, but Ashley was having the time of her life.

At first when Ashley had arrived in new york she was oblivous to the world of clubing, but quickly became a pro. Ashley also met her best freind estell, she really felt like she was her best friend, they could talk about almost anything and got along amazingly. Ashley could get in at any club, and could rock the dance floor until the tiles cracked. The club they were at now was new and severl of the people there was gourgous! The music was techno and many people were making and selling drugs, but the music was too good to pass up.
Ashley also liked estellas different fashion taste, she wore a tattered black dress and a green bow around her neck. She thought it to be creative and a dad bit mysterous. Ashley on the other hand wore heels that tied up to her knee, a dress that sparkled and had sheer black sleeves. Her long deep brown hair lay straight iorned past her shoulders.
As ashley's hips moved to the beat she noticed even more how many of the people here seemed to have other world beauty. Much like estella, but that is one of the things she couldnt help but love about her. The way she had such beauty but stood on the dance floor looking somewhat shy.
A boy came up with a case of drugs and Estella refused and Ashley simply ignored the man, knowing that most the time that was the best game plan. Then she heard estella's voice over the music. "Aw Estella! Just a few more songs then I promise we can go. Twelve?" Ashley smiled. "Thats just a little after life begins. And besides, I know you can move. I've seen it." She said giving her an encouraging smile.

Estella shifted uncomfortably. She didn't want to be here. There were too many vampires. Too many HUNGRY vampires. Their thirst was almost rubbing off on her, it was so much. They needed to get out of there. But how? When Ashley got like this, she rarely left until dawn. If they survived that long.
That' when she spotted Gage. He was staring at Ashley and her. Oh God, no. This isn't good. He's taken a liking to Ashley. Estella thought.

As Ashley jumped up and down to the music there was the enevitable bumping into others that lead to being called swear words and annoying names. Still she ignored them and continued to dance. Soon the song was over and she looked back at her friend Estella.
Estella looked nervous, claustraphoibic and like she was about to run. It looked as though her heart beat had gotten worse times ten and she was ready to leave. Suddenly Ashley felt really guitly for making her stay out so late. "What is wrong? I'm sorry I should not have made you stay, we can leave right now if you want. We can go." She said puting a hand on her shoulder.
Then she followed her gaze and saw a stranger that looked cunning, dangerous, and amazing. She didnt know weather to run to him or from him. So she simply stood pasted to the ground much like Estella. "Uhm...." But as fast as he came he was gone again. Ashley let out a breath.

Estella knew that this was bad. She knew that they needed to leave. But she also thought that if the other blood suckers knew that Ashley was with HER, then they'd keep away. Alls well with that.
"Neigh... It's alright. You enjoy this very much. This is in celebration to your promotion at work. Your happiness is top priority this night. It's just that this place seems to be getting a little hotter and stickier than usual. May we just step outside for half a moment?"

Ashley smiled she had the best friend ever! the least she could do was spare her a breath of fresh air after standing in the middle of the mosh pit and skankness. She was, by now rather used to it but Estella might not have been. So with a smlie she grabbed her hand and pulled her out the back door.
"Yea no problem lets go!" She shouted over the music. During the pushing past people some simply laughed, fell or cursed at them. Finally a gust of cool air welcomed them outside. "I'm sorry I kept you in there. I didnt mean to make you feel uncomfortable. And guess what I got us with my new promotion pay check." She said a grin on her face.

Estella drifted towards the outside with Ashley, very much relieved that she was obeying her. A little mind control on that factor never did any harm, right? But Estella did feel a little guilty in having to use her powers at all on her friend.
"What did you get?" Estella asked, interested.

Ashley smiled at how nice her friend was. She was the best! But she also could tell that she was begining to struggle a little so she held fimrly onto her hand and pushed past the crowd. Some shouted cureses, some laughed, some fell, some pushed them back. But by now Ashley was very much used to it so she simply kept on walking. Finally after the heat a welcome gust of cold wind hit their faces pushing their hair back.
Ashley turned to Estella. "Are you ok? If you arent we can go. I really dont mind." She smiled. "Its ok, it gets easier. And by the way I got you something! Well us something with my new pay check!" She said grinning eagerly.

"What did you get?" Estella asked. Ashley was obviously very exited. It was making Estella more eager than usual as well. Now that they were outside with a crisp breeze, Estella's head was clear and she could think better. She wasn't in panic-mode anymore.

Ashley pulled out two charm bracelets. They were both sterling silver. The first charm was half a heart onf each one, and when put together it became full again. The hearts were both half a daimond. She quickly clasped hers on her wrist. It shone in the dull light of the club. "Well what do you think!? I got them just for us." She said with a hopeful smile.

Estella stared at the bracelet, and put it on mechanically. She couldn't believe her eyes. This looked incredibly expensive. She felt so happy that she and Ashley could share something so luxurious.
But then there was the guilt. The unwavering guilt of having a secret... a very LARGE secret from Ashley. That she was a vampire. She had this sudden urge to tell her when she brought out the bracelets... she wished she could tell her.

Estella said nothing and put it on, but she didnt look very happy. Ashley's heart sank. She probably should not have made her feel bad by giving her an expensive gift, that may have been the problem. But finally she realized it wasnt the braclet. There was something else knawing at her, maybe she shouldnt have taken her out tonight. Seh thought to herself.
"Estella, are you ok? You seem a little shaken. Did I scare you in the club or seomthing? I shoudnt have taken you here if you didnt want to go," She said feeling suddenly guilty.

"I really do love the bracelet. I think it's my favorite accessory's I've ever owned." Estella smiled weakly. "Look... I have to tell you something.... I'm... well, I'm not.... human... exactly." She held eye contact with Ashley to show her the slits she had for pupils. "I'm a creature of the night... Satan's messenger... a blood-sucker... a vampire." She explained slowly and carefully. "I have been... all this time. And I wish I had told you sooner... or hadn't been friends with you at all... because it's killing me inside. So... please don't run away."

For the time being Ashley stood in complete shock. No. Way. She was just doing this because she knew how much she loved vampire books and that she wanted to have a good time. But the puples, there they were slits not round. But they could be contacts. Yea. They could be contacts. No they werent like that before. Ashley let out a breath she didnt know she was holding.
"I.....cant.....uhm........your.............va......mppp......hum." She stood as if trying to sort it all out in her mind. She ticked reasons off on her fingers thenquickly dismissed them. Then with her heart tearing in half she walked away her eyes stinging with tears. "I've gotta go, I'll call you ok?" She said after going down a dark alley thorugh two sky scrapers until she was in the streets trying ot clear her head.

Estella stood there, helpless. This did NOT just happen. But it did. And it was coming to bite her. Estella was suddenly regretting her decision on telling Ashley. She had taken it really badly. But she couldn't follow after her... it wouldn't be right. She'd just leave Ashley for the time being. Let her soak it in. Let her calm down. Yeah. Calm down.
