Hayaki glanced up at her and then stopped, his eyebrows rising. "Wow." He said, grinning a little, his pencil flying over the stair. "You know...if I wasn't firmly attached to sleeping with men, I think I'd have to call that amazingly sexy." He teased, his eyes laughing. He was teasing, yes, but he was also serious-that was probably the best completely natural 'come and get me' pose he'd ever seen. And he'd seen a lot of them, over his years sketching models.
He finished one sketch, then started on another, moving to capture a slightly different angle. "So tell me about yourself." He said, crouching and sketching rapidly. "Don't worry about moving; you can move, just not a great deal." He flipped the page again and moved closer, getting a good face-view. "You said you were a singer...tell me about your band."
He smiled as he sketched; he was pretty sure this was going to be the picture, although he'd sketch her in a few different poses just to make sure.

Inora raised an eyebrow of her own. "Really? Not at all what I was going for." She settled back. "This is just extremely comfy!" She had to admit that knowing he was gay had definitely made her relax even more than she already had. Not that she'd thought he'd do anything, one minute with him had been enough to prove to her that she could trust him. She lounged as he moved to capture the other angle.
"Well, let's see." She said, her words coming out slow and soft. Just so darn comfortable, specially for stairs. Her head moved slightly, causing her hair to fall more around her face than before. All she'd need was some light and wings and she'd be the spitting image of an angel, modern day. "My band is called the Four Elements. We're basically rock but we don't like to define ourselves that way. We play what we want to. Our personal shtick is that each of us represents one of the four basic elements. I am air, cause of the whole blonde hair, blue eyes thing. And then we have earth, fire, and water. I sing for a lot of the songs and play the keyboard. My friends tell me I have the perfect hands for it." She held up the mentioned appendage and looked at her long graceful fingers. "I guess I see what they mean. We haven't had too much exposure yet, though we've got a gig coming up in a few days at some hole in the wall club, you should come see us. I'll totally understand if you leave though." She grinned at him mischievously, "We're a pretty interesting sight actually. We all change our look somehow to fit our element and we even have code names." She laughed. "Mine's Arisa."

Hayaki chuckled. "I can see you being air...there's something ethereal about you...."
He stopped and flipped the page again. "Oh...." the mental picture caught him by surprise. "You HAVE to let me sketch you guys...all four of you together..." he grinned, doing another quick sketch. "Ok, I think I've got what I need here...can you sit up a little? Lean back, like you're talking to someone behind you." he instructed, moving around again. "Someone you're not very happy to see." he said.
He wanted to see what she did with her face when she wasn't happy; her smile was wonderful, but sometimes people's other expressions could be just as nice. "I'd love to come and see you guys perform. I don't get out much these days; I've sort of become a hermit." He admitted, sighing. "Plus, if you don't mind, I could sketch you guys on stage, performing...that might make for some really neat pictures."
He stopped to sharpen one of his pencils. "Would you mind?" He asked hopefully. He loved getting live-action sketches; some of his favorite paintings had evolved that way.

Inora smiled. "Why thank you! I feel a little ethereal right now." She grinned, but jumped when he proclaimed 'oh.' She looked at him and cocked her head to one side, almost like a puppy. Then a smile broke out over her face.
"That's a great idea!" She practically shouted, lifting her head and looking very excited. "The girls would love that! I can see their faces. Oh gosh. They are all so conceited just the thought of someone coming to the show to paint them, it'll make them go crazy!" She was almost talking more to herself than to him at this point, so she had to force herself to shut up to allow him to give her his instructions. The actress in her came alive as she raised herself up, intentionally tightening her muscles so her whole body looked tense. Her face took on this look of concentrated anger, her eyes narrowed a little and her nostrils flared ever so slightly. She imagined that it was her friend Savannah sitting there, acting like she was the only person in the band that mattered. She did that a lot, so Inora had this look down well. Unintentionally and completely through instinct, one of her hands had slid onto her hip, the universal girl sign for 'I'm pissed and I'm gonna let you know it.'
"We'd love to have you. At least that would be one guaranteed admission sold. But you know, if we're gonna be friends, which I hope we can, we're gonna have to work on that hermit thing. You can get your best inspirations by walking through this city! Trust me, I have written so many songs after a night on the town it's not even funny." She smiled slightly, and then her face returned to the angry look. "I wouldn't mind you sketching us at all. And I'm positive the girls wouldn't either. You just come and bring your pad, I'll make sure the girls are there and ready to give you some inspiration!"

Hayaki had to laugh; her enthusiasm was firing to his enthusiasm. "Great." he said. "Scary face there..."
He chuckled and finished sketching. "Done, I think." he flipped the pad closed. "That sounds great...I'd like to be friends." He said, smiling a little shyly now. "I'm looking foward to going to the show..."
He stood and offered her his hand. "I'm glad you came by...really. It's not often I meet someone I like as much as I think I like you, right off the bat." he said, smiling at her. "I think we've got a lot in common, and I think we're going to be great friends."
He blushed and offered her the book. "Would you like to see?" he said. He'd never let anyone look at the sketches; it was a kind of friendship offering, and he wondered if she'd understand exactly how much it meant for him to let her look at his rough drawings.
He moved away from her, grabbing the coffee, and sipped it. He couldn't look at her when she was looking; he was too embarassed.

Inora stretched happily when he said he was finished. She was happy to be able to be happy again. She never was good at staying angry. She smiled up at him, excited that she'd made a new friend, ecstatic that she'd be able to share her music with him, touched that he wanted to be there.
She took his hand and pulled herself to her feet. "I'm glad I came by too. I'm the same way, most of the time it takes me days to make the connection we made in the first five minutes." She shrugged. "We're just two peas in the proverbial pod."
When he offered her the book she was shocked, and it showed in her face. For example, in the wide eyes and dropped jaw. Her friend, the aforementioned Savannah was an artist. Therefore, Inora did understand how big a deal this was. She'd only asked Sav to look at her book once, that was all she'd needed. "Are you sure?" She asked, but he'd already turned away. She flipped the book open and silently turned the pages. Each sketch seemed almost better than the last, and they all made her feel really good about herself. She closed the book, a huge smile on her face. She'd never felt so beautiful in her entire life.
She took a step over to him and smiled. "Don't take this the wrong way." She said, before wrapping her arms around him. "Thank you. I really appreciate it, I know how much that meant for you to let me see those sketches in their raw form. And thank you for making me feel pretty! That's always a plus." She stepped back and smiled at him.

Hayaki was surprised when she hugged him; after a moment's hesitation, he awkwardly returned it with one arm, the other busy keeping the coffee from spilling. He blushed but grinned; pleased and embarrassed at the same time.
Taking the book from her, he carefully stashed it away. "I think we have a date." he said, laughing. "I'll be at the concert; is there a way I can make sure to get someplace where I can see you guys well? Not right up front, but...maybe elevated someplace." He considered it, sipping his coffee. "It doesn't really matter; it's not the details I'm looking for but the overall effect. I want to see how you guys move on stage; I want to try and catch it in a painting."
If he could, it would be a great painting, he just knew it. Maybe one of his best. "And you still need a painting..." he cocked his head and grinned. "Free of charge for being a model. You know you're going to end up in a lot of paintings, right?" he asked, his eyes laughing gently. "You've got the look for anything from ethereal fairy fantasy to hard-rock glam. I'd have to see you in punk; right now I can't imagine it." He chuckled, finishing his coffee, and waited to see which painting she chose.

Inora looked towards the ceiling as she pondered his question. She tried to imagine the club they were performing at. When they'd auditioned for the spot, they had gotten to stand on the stage, so she tried to remember what the place looked like. "Hmm...." Her mind invisioned it and her head tilted. "Oh, that's right. There's an area of the bar that's elevated. It's up high enough that you can see the stage over the dance floor, if you get to the club early enough and snag a table close to the edge you'll have the best view in the house."
She grinned at him and then laughed at his comment about being in a lot of paintings. "Oh you know it dahling!" She said in a cheesy movie voice. "I'm so ready for my close-up." She smiled but was also flattered. She'd always thought that she could have been an actress if she'd pursued it, his words just proved her suspicions. "Thank you, that's very nice of you to say. And don't worry, you'll get to see me in punk wear soon enough." She and her friends loved to do punk shows, cause it was so far out of the realm for all of them.
Now to the matter at hand. She moved around the studio, examing the pictures closely, trying to find one that would speak to her. She stopped at a painting of a young woman, her head down. Her body was divided in half and on one side of her body was light and the other was dark. The girl herself was also divided, on the dark half her hair was blonde and her skin pale. On the light half her hair was jet black and her skin was a golden tan. The dress she was wearing wrapped her in a silver sheen of material the only thing on the woman that wasn't divided between light and dark. It was like a physical representation of the yin-yang symbol. Inora recognized in it the symbol for duality and felt a connection. She turned to Hayaki and pointed to it. "This one." She said, her voice little more than a wistful whisper.

Hayaki laughed, setting his cup down on the counter. "Good." he said, to all of her words. He'd make sure and get there early; he wanted a good spot where he could see all of the action on the stage. He tilted his head and grinned at her playing; he couldn't wait to capture her in more paintings. He had a feeling this was going to be the start of a beautiful friendship...
When she chose the piece, he sighed. Not because he didn't want her to have it, but because that was one of his favorite pieces. The girl who'd modeled for it had hardly spoken a word the entire time she was here, but when she'd seen the finished painting, she'd smiled and pressed it back into his hands. 'This belongs to you; I was only the physical representation. The artistry was all yours. Take it with my blessings...'
"That's a perfect choice." he said, smiling again. He walked over and snagged one of his rolls of paper, then gently picked up the painting and began to wrap it for her. "I never could settle on a name for it; if one occurs to you, let me know, ok?" he said, tying off the package. Then he presented it to her, his eyes warm. "Take it, with my blessing." He echoed the words the model had used unconsciously. "To seal our new friendship."

Inora managed to catch his sigh and briefly wondered what had caused it, but her fears were slightly alleviated when he smiled and began to wrap the painting. She watched his hands as he prepared to part with, basically, a piece of himself. She would never understand how artists could do it. They gave up a little piece of their mind, their souls, every time they sold a work. She looked up as he asked her about the name.
She shrugged, imagining the painting in her head, since she could no longer see it. "Something simple would work well. If it were really up to me I would probably just call it Duality. Short, sweet, and to the point." She started to say more but cut off as he presented the work to her. She could sense something in the air, some deeper meaning in what was happening here.
His words nearly made tears come to her eyes, so greatly did they seem to smack of hidden meaning. She looked at the wrapped painting, and slowly reached her hand out and took it. She pulled it back to her, cradling it to her heart. She glanced up at him and smiled, despite her moist eyes. "I'll cherish it forever Haya." She said, the shortened name coming to her without thought. "As I will our friendship." She then looked down sheepishly. "May I call you Haya?" She asked.

Haya smiled and reached out, touching her shoulder. "Of course you can." He said happily. "I love that nickname; I don't have many good friends, but that's what they call me." He patted her shoulder, then stepped away, clearing his throat. "I'm glad you picked that one, and from now on, it's name is Duality."
He smiled and crossed his arms, tipping his head to the side. "Do you have anything you have to do this afternoon?" He asked, slighlty wistful. He was lonely; he never really noticed it until he was faced with being alone.
I spend too much time alone he thought with a sigh. I need to get out more; make some friends. Hopefully, Inora will keep her promise and drag me out of the house more often.

Inora smiled ecstatically when he said she could call him Haya. She loved nicknames. She was ready to strike up another conversation about anything when he asked if she had somewhere to be. Suddenly it was as if a lightbulb had gone off in her head. "Oh...crap...oh...crap!" She slapped herself in the forehead with the hand not holding the painting. "I forgot about band practice. Savannah's gonna kill me!"
She quickly gave him a hug and then headed for the door. "I'm so sorry to run like this, but I'm already going to be late. Horrendously late. So unfortunately I must leave you to your paint. Oh.." She whipped out his business card and grabbed a pen she found laying around. She wrote her cell phone number on the back and handed it to him. "Call me if you need anything and also so I can tell you where the club is. If you ever feel lonely, or bored, or just want to get out and have some fun, call. Okay. But now I really have to go. Bye Haya!" She gave a little wave and then bolted out the door, muttering about lateness and death as she went.

Hayaki deflated a bit when she said she had to leave, but hugged her back and smiled. "I will, I promise." He said, tucking the card into his pocket. He would, too. I really need to get out more, so I'll make sure and keep up with her.
"Go, don't be any later than you're going to be. Be careful though..." he said, ushering her to the door. He smiled and leaned on it, watching her leave, then sighed and shut it behind her once she'd gone. Turning, he walked down and took out his pad, flipping through it to look at the sketches again. Maybe if I start now, I can have it done by the night of her concert...that would be pretty cool....
With that goal in mind, he pulled out his tools and set to work, humming happily under his breath.
