Marie had lived here for a very long time but had yet to see a vampire. How was she going to do her research if she couldn't find the very things she was researching? She walked down the street and watched as the sun finally set, leaving her in darkness. She stayed clear of the street lamps, not wanting to be seen by anyone.
She wanted to talk with a vampire but Marie knew how stupid that was. As if a vampire would just talk. And its not like she could talk anyway. So really there was no point in her looking for them. She wouldn't even be able to scream if one came up and bit her. The very thought sent a siver through her body and she wrapped her arms around herself. She wasn't scared of vamps but more interested in them and what they could do. However these were not the thoughts of her co-workers down in the labs she worked in during the day. In fact she still had on her white lab coat with her ID clipped to it.
She glanced up at the moon. It was full tonight, and was bright.
Marie suddenly stopped walking and sat down, with her back against a wall. Let a vampire come. Let them try and take her blood. She would be ready for them anyway if they tried it. She moved her bag closer to her and took out a note book, she started to write down some random notes and ideas before putting it satly away back in the bag. She stared down at her bag, at the lage gold letters on the front of it. UNS. The place where she worked. Very few people knew about it and even fewer ever got a job there. She had been lucky.

Breeze crossed her arms as she made her way through the dark streets. New Orleans. She'd never been here before. She hadn't missed Europe as much as she thought she would and New York had been overrated in her opinion. She thought she'd try some southern comfort for awhile.
The air felt warm and sticky here. Not like she had a body temperature. She could have easily walked around in her coat and not been bothered by it. But unwanted attention was something she didn't seek. So she wore a black sleeveless top, which showed off her pale, pale arms.
Her stomach rumbled. She was hungry.
Oh please let me run into a homeless man . . .
Instead, she could smell someone else. A girl. She used her senses to spot her in the darkness. There she was, sitting against the wall in a white lab coat, no less. Peculiar.
Breeze approached her, a small smile on her face, and her Irish accent soft as she said, "Bit of an odd place for a breather, isn't it?"

Marie had taken hr notebook out again and was staring at a blank page, trying to remember what it was she would put there. And then she just had one of those feelings of being watched. That something wasn't right.
So she looked up from the page and sure enough Marie could see a girl walking toward her.
She returned the girls smile but it was also apologetic, for she couldn't even answer the girl. Instead she quickly wrote down what she wanted to say. 'Odd places are the only places to go to find what your looking for.' she wrote down and then held it up so the girl could see it.
Marie watched her carefully. Was this girl a vampire? She couldn't tell. She had only ever seen one vampire and that was years ago.

Breeze's brown eyes darted across the page, quickly reading the words and looking back to the girl. "Can't you speak?" Can't speak, can't scream . . . Very interesting . . .
She cocked her head to the side. What a strange, interesting human. Perhaps she'd hold off on dinner for a few minutes. "And what is it you're looking for?"

Marie's eyes were a bit sad as she shook her head, which made some of her reed hair fall out of place and she reached up to put it back behind her ear.
She then lowered the notebook once more to write, 'I haven't talked since I was 13.' And then he put it up once more for her to see and put it back in her lap again to write 'Vampires' That was the only reply she made about the question. It was simple and straight to the point. Now she would just have to watch her reaction to the answer.

Breeze read the word, and if she hadn't mastered the stoic stare after a 200+ years, she probably would have gasped. Vampires? What did this girl know about vampires? And if she did, how was she still alive.
Breeze crossed her arms, looking dubious. "Vampires? Does everyone in this city believe all that superstitious nonsense?" She stepped closer. "Even if they were real, why would you ever go looking for one? Or are you one of those that think vampires aren't out for human blood and are just misunderstood?"

Marie wasn't sure what to make of the girls reaction. And she stood up when she came closer.
She turned around so she was facing the wall to use it as something to write on.
She stared at the page for a moment, thinking about what to write.
'Its not superstitious nonsense.' She paused as she thought again and then went on writing, shaking her head 'No vampires aren't misunderstood. Thats foolish. They feed off our blood. Though there are some who feed off animals. And I look for them because I want to. Because it helps my research.' Looking at it for a minute she held it up to her.

Breeze read the words and raised her eyebrows to the girl?
"Research? You research . . . vampires?" She cocked her head to the side. "You don't really look the type to be into that sort of thing. You know, black hair, black clothes, dark eye makeup . . ." Her eyes ticked over her own appearance, which was exactly what she had described. She cleared her throat to cover herself. "I just mean . . . well, the coat alone is throwing me."

Marie looked over the girls own appearance and smirked, and then she looked down at her clothes. Simple blue jeans, and a dark red shirt under her lab coat.
She shrugged. If anyone was the type it was the girl in front of her.
She quickly wrote down on a reply 'Yes. Its my job.' She was careful not to say the name of her job or what she really did there and what the research was for.
'I work down in a lab. That why I have this coat on, I just got out of work a short time ago.' She then held it up again.

If Breeze's heart still beat, it would have been going 90 miles an hour. Oh God. She's not kidding. She really knows about vampires . . .
However, Breeze forced a laugh and gave the girl an are-you-kidding? look. "You work in a lab that studies vampires? What the sector on leprechauns was filled?"

Marie didn't even miss a beat as she wrote down her reply 'You don't believe me?' she once more paused as she thought of something more to write and then it came to her 'What about you, do you believe in vampires?' She questioned, and held it up.
So far nothing the girl said had been her seem like a vampire but surely the girl had seen at least one vampire in her lifetime. Or maybe not but the chances were good that she had.

Breeze crossed her arms. "I think if I worked in a lab that studied vampires, I wouldn't go talking about it . . . or writing, as the case may be."
She perked up an eyebrow. "Do I sound like I believe in vampires?" It was the best way she could answer the question . . . without actually answering it. If this girl did study vampires, she wanted to learn what she could, then hightail it out of there. No way would she be made into a lab rat.

'What does it matter to you, your the one who doesn't even believe in vampires right?' Marie wrote quickly and showed it to her.
The girl seemed a bit defensive and it was odd. And in truth she did look like the kind that would study vampires or at the very least believe in them. Maire wished she could just talk, it would make things a lot easier.

Breeze shrugged. "Didn't actually say I didn't believe in them. Just saying if I did, and I studied them for a living, I'd be a bit more . . . conspicuous about it."
Breeze's stomach rumbled. She was getting hungrier . . .

Marie nodded slowly, it was true Breeze never did say she really didn't believe in them but the way she talked about it would make it seem thats what she was thinking. She took a step toward her. Something was off about her, though she couldn't tell what just yet.
She turned to a new page and wrote: 'I shouldn't need to be conspicuous. The whole world should know the truth. Vampires are real. Though I cant say I'm afraid of them, but more.... interested in them.'
