Lars thought the conversation was off to a good start, all Haemish's talking was a good thing, for once the speech was a soothing gesture, one with intimacy, not just chatter and arguments like everyone else he'd met. Just in Haemish's speaking Lars was finding out more about himself, and was genuinely happy about that.
But some things aren't learned but remembered. The mention of the friends just caused Lars to look down, best friends, killed. Those words didn't spark happy memories. hey only sparked memories of his first kill as a vampire, what permanently sealed him as a murderer for eternity, one of the few things he kept locked away for no one to see. Lars tried to drive the memories away so long ago, but the remained to evident, like it just happened, not yesterday, but 5 minutes ago. It seldom ever reemerged from the place in the back of his mind, unless he got to thinking to hard. One reason he hated being alone.
Lars realized he'd strung a dead note with his partner. And looked up again just in time to hear him laugh. It sent most of the bad feelings away and for that Lars was too grateful. He let out a shaky sigh that drove off all the other little remnants of before.
Haemish looked so enlightened, Lars was afraid he would dampen it with his said thoughts. So he continued peering over to Haemish's happy face and his mood was brought up more, but it wasn't enough.
He needed to share his secrets too, Haemish had, and look at him now. Lars was partly hesitant, but decided it was best, "Yeah, I had a friend die to, man, back in New York. I can honestly say you're the first one in all my 23 year existence for me to have told", he said with a painful smile as the memories came, but then subsided as he gazed over into Haemish's blue eyes. "The sad thing is, no one probably knows he's gone, or misses him much, except me of course", Lars choked out trying to add some humor, but failing miserably as his lip trembled slightly. He bit down on it hard and looked away to gain his composure back. Just look at the eyes, he told himself as he peered up again at the blue orbs. It made him feel instantly better, and he smiled a small, but genuine smile. "But, anyway, enough of unhappy things..."

He felt a bit overwhelmed. This was the first time he'd harboured any emotions but loneliness and regret, and some of the things he was experiencing he couldn't remember what they were. The odd few he knew, like guilt, for example, he recognized. He'd been so selfish, and he could feel it. Other people managed to get by with, most likely, more terrible backgrounds than his own, and he'd only thought of himself. And so he coulnd't help but feel guilt ridden by his own acts of self-pity.
He brushed it off, knowing there wasn't anything he could do about his past. He understood he could get better now, and that is what mattered. That and Lars.
Impulsively, he leaned forward to give Lars a very big hug. He felt Lars' pain, even though he didn't know the whole story. He'd lost someone, and how was irrelevant, the only thing that mattered was the fact that they had some form of understanding. He nodded, deciding not be be selfish by continuing the conversation as he wanted to since it caused his companion pain. He felt safe momentarily. Letting go, somewhat reluctantly, he commenced biting his lip once more. He began walking again, adjusting his light grey cargo jacket across his shoulders as well as the hood of his brown zippie. He was guarded from the evening chill, but his occasional shivering wasn't a result of the cold, simply being around another vampire.
Analysing the mixture of feelings that tumbled around inside of his used-to-be hollow frame, he realised that there was another feeling stood out for certain. He knew it all too well; a strange feeling in the pit of his stomach and wanting to make even the slightest physical contact. Oh yes, Haemish was well acquainted with this very human emotion. A tremor of resent shuddered its way up his spine at the memories of the last time he felt that way. But then it was his bestfriend whom he'd known for sixteen years. Not a day. He eventually deducted that it must be another unfamiliar feeling that could be mistaken easily.
"Yes. Enough of this." he replied musically, smiling lightly to himself as he watched his feet, kicking a rock on the street and sending it skittering into the gutter. He was about to confirm the age of the vampire next to him, but figured he got 'you're the youngest vampire I've ever met' quite frequently and refraained. Instead, Haemish slid his hands casually into his pockets before continuing with what he hoped might turn out to be funny of sorts. "So... how about them..." Haemish drew a blank. Conversation starters were not his thing. Come to think of it, conversations weren't really his thing either. Slightly embarassed, and now a light shade of pink, he decided it best to keep his mouth shut until he had something witty to say.

Lars smiled widely with his mouth closed and let himself fall a bit off balance in the hug. He clumsily let himself walk wrong ways, letting his feet fall wherever, but keeping himself supporting his weight as he laughed lightly. It made him feel so much better, too much better. Better than he started out the night as. His smiled continued even after Haemish, sadly, pulled away. If his hugs made him feel like that every time, he hoped he'd be getting more soon. A playful subconscious in his mind was contemplating coming up with some other sad things about himself to share to get more hugs, but that would be selfish, so he resisted.
It was surprising how much they had in common, and how much they differed. But none of the aspects seemed to retract away from each other, more that the differences seemed to fit together, they were the right side of the magnet. North and South, more drawn together than refracted away. Or like puzzle pieces that fit perfectly. Whatever analogy, it worked, and Lars could feel it in the embrace. But they still had much to learn about each other, and Lars knew he was getting too carried away with a person he'd only known for a few hours. But who was he to deny his own feelings, from past experiences, they'd led him astray only once.
Still no words were spoken for a few moments, the blissful silence that was comforting continued. Until Haemish's words broke it, followed by the scattering of the rock. Lars was still comforted even if the silence was broken. How was that he didn't know. Everything seemed to be thrown all around when he was near Haemish, but not in the worst ways.
His partner tried to start up the speech properly, but failed blushing cutely. The flush made Lars smile more, and shrug his shoulders, scanning his own mind for something to say. He figured they needed to start with the basics and work their way up. "So, without getting out much, what do you do with all your spare time?" Lars asked smoothly, but quietly, letting his eyes still linger one his companion's face that was lit up Nicole by the street lamps. Everything looked better in dim light, from buildings to this man's attractive face, it just worked.

With his heart launching itself at his rib cage, it was pretty hard for Haemish to think of a lie to answer with. He'd wanted something interesting, but decided it best to be honest again, even though before his honesty was accidental. "Actually, my spare time is spent thinking of other ways to prevent what just happened a second ago. I also spend my time avoiding people, and not letting anyone close to me incase I get hurt when they leave. Which would be one of the few reasons how I developed agoraphobia." [/i] he replied, taking a deep breath as he'd forgotten to do so before his long answer. He gave a nervous smile to Lars, knowing he'd just brought up the conversation they'd just dismissed, and he felt a bit worried Lars was going to be upset by it. He tried to make it sound lighthearted - which wasn't too hard since it seemed quite pathetic and a bit funny to him now. The fact that he'd spent so long finding solutions and preventatives only to, in one swift movement with a stranger, sum it up an a sentence. He couldn't figure out how he'd gotten so worked up over it. People get through loss at high rates. Most dont even have eternity to figure out that their life is still going.
He looked back down to his feet and bit his lip. Talking to Lars made him feel happy. There was no two-ways about it. Even in his presence Haemish felt bubbly, and he wasn't used to that. He actually wasn't too sure what to do with all this emotion that he was filled with suddenly. He was used to only having emptiness and that was easy to deal with. He just wanted to jump around and hug Lars again. "I'm so not used to happiness. And I don't know what to do with it."[/i] he confessed, thinking aloud, still grinning broadly. He leaned in and hugged Lars again.
Realising how high he seemed, bit hard on his lip and took a few deep breaths. He had forever to be happy, and he could only hope he could be happy with Lars. "Anyways.. that's why I don't get out much."[/i] he laughed, worried he was freaking Lars out.

Biting down his own lip and listening to Haemish say what he did on his spare time, made Lars want to make it better. He didn't want to leave, he didn't want to hurt. But he did live in New York, he had an apartment there, but when did the landlord ever ask for rent, hardly ever. And at the rate all this with Haemish was going, he was sure he wouldn't really give a flying fuuck about New York, strange as it may sound. All though there were the other 'small' catches in the way. All his vices, he was sure he had to be able to give up, so many vices. But he had no calling for anything right now. He was totally content. If the future were the same, he had to hope, he may not ever need those things to fill his own gaps again.
Lars thought about telling him, he wouldn't think of leaving anytime soon. He wanted to, so bad. Then he was reassured he had to when Haemish told him of his happiness. Before he knew it Lars was taken up in another amazing hug he wanted never to end. This time he wrapped his own arms around Haemish. "I don't want to leave" , he confessed into his ear with a smile in his voice. Lars thought not to get worked up about anything at the moment, the both were being so open and, maybe switched personalities temporarily, although, to a lower extent. Lars still felt like the social butterfly he always was, but he was a good nervous. Just enough to make him pay attention a little more than he usually did, and it was good for him.
So happy from all his openness, Lars was worried he wasn't being very open himself. He wasn't perfect, and he needed a smoke, badly. But still, he resisted reaching for one and kept the smile on his face. Hamish was too important for Lars to be distracted by a cigarette right now.
Getting his mind off his nicotine addiction he turned back to Haemish, deciding to share more truth in his feelings. "Well, I'm glad you decided to come out tonight, even if it didn't start out all that great..." he said lowering his smile a bit to a half smile while recalling the fateful alley.

Haemish could feel his lower lip getting irritated with how much he'd been gnawing on it that evening. He didn't want to make any assumptions about Lars' reasoning behind what he was saying. With Haemish's regular luck, Lars was straight.
Something about Lars' voice in his ear made Haemish's hair stand on end. He felt his smile fade slightly. "Then don't."[/i] he replied simply, using all of his willpower not to bite his lip again. Instead he raised his index finger and bit his nail. He looked at Lars for a moment, offering a sincere smile before continuing. "Me too, actually. I usually pass out before I make it to an alley. And then have to wait alone until the crowd clears up if I do."[/i] He chuckled lightly at his own stupidity.
He felt worried by his impulsiveness, he felt slightly helpless towards his actions, and words. Haemish knew he wasn't usually spontaneous, but having an overflow of emotions did tend to effect actions among other things. Especially after so many years. Before he could stop himself - yet again - Haemish leaned forward and kissed Lars, ignoring the question that pounded itself into the back of his head repeatedly; "Is he straight?!" It had been a long time since he'd kissed someone he felt attracted to, and he usually didn't come onto anyone this quickly or anything. He decided that Lars would pull away if he was straight, which was very unlike him.
He couldn't help it. It was like a natural high, being around Lars. Being able to smell him, hear him... everything was intensified, including the silence around them. Haemish hated silence when he was with someone. That was before right now. Before, he loved the silence when he was on his own, and hated noise... But when he was with someone he needed background noise or else he got uneasy and felt compelled to make his own noise to rid himself of the dreadfull silence.
This was different. He was enjoying the silence, but when Lars spoke it was the same. He didn't need sound. All he needed was Lars now. That is all.
Though it had hardly been a second, shock had set into his gut. Haemish, since his departure of Scotland, was not any form of spontaneous or get-what-i-want. He put all of his wants aside to avoid any harm. Now, at last, he went for what he wanted. He felt himself smile slightly.

My god. Lars thought during the kiss. Screw god, he is god. he concluded as he gently kissed back. It was the hug times too many numbers to multiply by. It sent his head spinning, knees almost failing. Everything, totally pulled upside down. He only experienced this kind of feeling toward a few people in his lifetime, but maybe never this intensified. And after only a small kiss, after only one night of even knowing each other. So fast, what fate could do for someone! Why did everything happen so fast when you had eternity to live? But deep questions didn't matter, not now, all that mattered was Haemish.
He'd only had the same feelings for two others, both girls. He'd never actually been serious with a guy, ever. Him and his friends would play around when they were single, just to experiment. He did love his friends, as friends, with benefits of course. He figured some of that had rubbed off. But these feelings weren't friends with benefit feelings at all, they went deeper than lust. They had shared their feelings with each other before, him and Haemish. They'd seen each other at their weakest, and highest points. Lars had saved Haemish, and Haemish had saved Lars, he might not know yet, but he did. Lars made a mental note to tell him about that later.
All Lars could hear was their breathing, and the occasional bugs of the night gathering near the street lamps. But other than that, he had his silent bliss, and a kiss. It was pure heaven. All the things he loved right now, mixed in together. He wanted never for the sun to come up, never for the street lights to go out, never for anything to change this moment. The way Haemish looked under the dim lamp light, they way they both felt right then. but it had to end sometime, hopefully, just to go on to the next blissful moment he wanted never to stop.
He felt a small smile from his partners lips and decided to softly end the moment with his own tender smile. "I'd be there in any crowd to save you."

Haemish's heart nearly exploded at the sound of Lars's voice again. But he didn't know how to respond to it, it was almost too much for him to take in one day. His body was beginning to feel tired of holding so much for such an empty person. Ignoring this, he slid one hand around Lars's waist and kissed him again in reply. He wasn't used to kindness like this. He figured he might actually have to answer, but still didn't know how. "Jesus, now that's another nice thing I've had said to me. You're amazing."[/i] he said lightly, pulling away to look at Lars as he spoke. He was well aware it was the second time he'd been shocked by Lars's comments. This only made Haemish more attracted to him.
He didn't want Lars to have to leave. In fact, he just didnt want this night to ever end. As had happened so many times that evening, he had the urge to say more. But he realised he'd already mentioned that he'd lived for so long, and didn't want to keep saying the same thing over and over again. If he feels even remotely close to how I do right now, he wont care if I repeat myself, he thought hopefully, wishing he Ignoring that minor detail, he said what he wanted to say. "I haven't felt this way about someone since I was human."[/i] he whispered truthfully, his breathing was quiet and deep as though they were his last. He'd taken another risk. He was getting better already.
What's one person? I need someone. he thought, even thoguh he knew how much he'd be hurt if Lars left. He wanted Lars to know him, and be able to talk to him. It was the first time he'd felt so strongly to someone he'd only just met. The third time he felt this strongly for someone total though. The first two died. He knew this all too well, but he neglected that fact and continued to gaze at Lars. He couldn't resist anymore.

I think you're amazing. Lars thought as Haemish pulled his lips away from his for a second time. The hand at his waist seemed to be burning a whole through his hooded jacket and his shirt. His pale cheeks flooded light pink and he smiled shyly. He never thought himself to be so amazing, the compliment was really appreciated. Though if he were to compare himself to Haemish, Lars felt himself as meager, but the more time he spent with him, the more he was feeling otherwise.
How long had it been since he'd kissed someone, out of real feelings, not just pure impulse, or accident? Since he was turned that's how long. But he figured 4 years wasn't much to Haemish, 300 years was so much longer to go without someone.
Lars wasn't even trying to be the sweetest he could be, everything just spilled out when he was around Haemish. He needed to say something sweet every once in a while, he wanted to flatter someone, just to prove he could, and with Haemish he wanted to anyway. Apparently it was working, Lars was confident that he could make him happy with his words. But still, he was under the scrutiny of the feeling to be cautious of what he did and said.
"Neither have I" , he responded irritating his lip as he stared at Haemish's eyes that had turned a deeper, brighter, more intensified blue, everything was so amplified. It was truth, he hadn't come close to finding someone he was interested in throughout the three years he'd been immortal, but now he had, and at the moment, he couldn't be more perfect. Too many thoughts that weren't being expressed, why not let it all loose, no need to be shy now, Haemish was loving it all. "I think you're perfect."

Haemish nearly gasped when Lars returned his feelings. Perfect was not one of the words he'd use for himself. But he felt very reassured when the words were given to him from Lars.
Being an attractive guy, of course he'd had 'relationships', but the thing is, they weren't really that. Simple things like one-night stands rather than actually getting to know the person he lay in bed with. That way he couldn't get hurt. But in doing that, he was inflicting pain upon himself. Pain by loneliness. This was not pain in the least.
He touched his forehead to Lars'sessessess (take that >.<) and took a deep breath. "Is there a word to describe something better than perfect?" he whispered back, his happiness bubbling into a hint of smile in his voice. He tilted his head to affectionately brush Lars's nose with his lightly. The simplest word from Lars made him so happy. He wondered vaguely if he had that effect on Lars as well. But Lars did like him a lot, that was clear by the exchanging of emotions.
His already heightened senses were absorbing even more sounds than usual. Both of the vampire's breathing came in rythmically, drumming patterns in Haemish's head. His own breathing had become somewhat staggered being so close to Lars, his mouth hardly an inch away. He felt reassured and safe being so close to another vampire, though had it not been Lars, he'd probably be very uncomfortable and uneasy by the presence of a stranger and the silence surrounding them. But this way he could hear every sound Lars made.

Lars continued to gaze up into the smoldering blue orbs as they came closer while their dark bangs melded together at their foreheads. He bit his lip at the closeness, yet still being able to look at Haemish. Lars raised his arms to Haemish's shoulders, like they were slow dancing at some High school dance. Despite the hight difference, it seemed to fit, just like the hugs had.
Haemish rubbed his nose to the side Lars did not have his piercing on, leaving the metal unbothered. He was biting his lip on the opposite side, avoiding the other sliver of metal on his lip, which faced Haemish. Haemish had no metal on his face, or any tattoos like Lars had, but that was fine, it made no difference to Lars, he was still too perfect.
Lars let out a breathy laugh as he dropped his lip from his teeth, but continued to stare. "Better than perfect?" he said in a light tone, "How about Godly?" He said raising his eyebrows trying to give some of his humor to the moment. Godly was the word to describe everything right now. Perfection, godly, amazing, just in the simple embrace. It was all just too right.
Lars thought about when the sun might come up. The night had already long begun when he had first spotted Haemish. As much as he never wanted it to never end, the fateful, cruel sun, had to make its way up sometime, but for now, Lars would dismiss it. Plus, even when the sun did come up, Haemish did have to have somewhere to stay, if things kept going this way, Lars was hoping he would come along. He had said he didn't want to leave, and he meant it.

Unable to resist an adorable laugh at Lars's words, Haemish did just that. He let a light-hearted chuckle escape his lips. The lips he'd just pressed to Lars's, which made him laugh for a moment longer. Happiness was spilling out his seams, as well as his unexplanable allure to Lars.
"Then you are my God."[/i] he bit his lip again, containing his laughter momentarily. He couldn't help but place his forehead onto Lars's lovingly. And tonight is just plain godly. he thought simply, knowing his thoughts and words were as honest as he could get.
Seeing Lars look over, Haemish glanced at the horizon knowing sunlight would lick it's edges fairly soon. He checked his watch quickly, still not removing his hand from Lars's waist.
"So, god,"[/i] he paused long enough to offer a broad grin to Lars. "I don't suppose that comment about never wanting to leave still applies?"[/i]He asked seductively, biting his slightly swollen lip again. He watched Lars from his eccentrically blue eyes, which were that blue mostly from happiness since he wasn't nearly as nervous anymore. He felt as confident as possible.
Though, if Lars didn't, his house was fairly small, containing only five rooms - four of which were not bedrooms. He could always sleep on the sofa if need be, but he still wasn't sure at all about what to do next. He never brought anyone to his house. And of course there was the fact that Lars might have a place to stay, making it irrational to get nervous and taint his happiness. He probably does have somewhere to stay, he thought to himself.
"If so, you up for a run?" he grinned, allowing his lips to curve alluringly over his perfect teeth. He pushed some of his nice brown hair to the side lightly so it no longer hung directly in his eyes.
He checked his watch again, as though he was a student waiting for class to end. fifty-seven minutes, he thought again, having figured out the timing for each season for when the sun would rise. They only had said amount of time before they needed to be in his house. Though, his house sat at a twenty minute run away from their current whereabouts, leaving them a good twenty minutes to do whatever before hand.
It only took a few mintues to cover the windows with wood. That was just a precaution though, since his home was surrounded by a huge forest which, thankfully, was also his. But he figured it best to put something like wood up in the few windows the house had, just in case some sunlight filtered through the thick greenery. That might not be so much fun.

Lars let off a small smug smile, but his eyes were still sweet. He'd never been a god before, he always thought he had to start off as Spider-Man first. But all the compliments during the evening were doing wonders to his already well built self esteem. He'd been placed on the top of a pedestal in a matter of one day, he only hoped he was doing the same for his partner.
His smile dropped with the seductive tone in Haemish's voice. Him biting his lip added even more effect to it, and all words escaped from Lars's mind while he just watched how perfect Haemish spoke from himself. His eyes still the strong blue Lars knew, but the voice increasingly stronger and full of confidence. Whenever Haemish had his confident seductive side out, he seemed to be draining it from Lars as he stared seduced and transfixed.
Lars opened and closed his mouth once before being able to conjure words. "It still applies." he said quietly with his arms still around Haemish's neck. He still held true to the fact he didn't want to leave, maybe more so now than before when he said it. He would stay as long as need be.
Haemish's arms were still at Lars's waist and Lars didn't want them to be moved, he wanted to be made a statue right there, forever. But he had to feed before the night was over, and the sun would capture them if they stayed. It had to end eventually.
Reluctantly Lars slowly moved his arms from Haemish's neck. He brought them down to hold Haemish's arms with his hands. Lars half smiled up at him, sad from the lack of giving contact. "I'm up for some exercise, as long as you guide your god where to run to."

For once, Haemish's self esteem was not below average. Hearing the compliments were nice, but coming from Lars they had so much more meaning. The slightest comment directed towards him was working wonders on his pretty low self-confidence level. He could even feel himself believing the words as they escaped Lars's lips. And, catching hint of some smugness in his parteners adorable smile, he knew he'd done the same. Godly, must've done it. he thought to himself happily.
"Perfect. Follow me."[/i] he grinned, new confidence pouring out of his words. He picked up a fairly relaxed pace and made off into the night.
The cool marning air brushed comfortably against his pale face, assuring him that he was not in the midst of a most wonderful dream. He continued to breathe deeply, using the breeze to allow his brain a break from so much so suddenly. Haemish's feelings of being overwhelmed were swept off with the wind, evaporating into the night. The thought suddenly crossed his mind; he hadn't a clue what to do once they got back to his house. Drawing another deep breath, he pushed the thought aside, knowing better than to anticipate it. Better not to get worked up over it, which would probably end horribly, seeing as how the rest of the night had gone so smoothly despite his doubts. He'd leave it to instincts, just like before. They hadn't let him down so far.
Grateful for the silence, which was resulting in loose ends being tied, he felt himself smile once more. He also felt a small ache in his cheeks, which were not used to smiling so hard and so often. Using one hand, he gently massaged his cheek. Though, he knew soon enough that his lips would part into a very large smile and the ache would return. It was next to useless to rub them now.
After what seemed like only seconds, but had actually beeing about twenty mintues, he pulled himself to a stop at the end of his driveway. His stomach did a flip as he took one step onto the gravel road. He hadn't brought anyone to his house in this manner, ever. He glanced up at the entrance which was framed by many trees.
Looking over at Lars, as predicted, a smile crept across his glowing face. "Welcome,"[/i] he said light-heartedly, using his hands to gesture down the drive with joking chivalry. The gravel crunched slightly under the weight of Haemish's feet as he made his way down the way. A few seconds of walking later, he stopped once more at the doorstep of his cozy home. He opened the door for Lars, "Make yourself at home,"[/i] he requested, revealing the very red inside of his home. He hoped that Lars would do just that, since he was entirely clueless as to what to do next. He steeped through the threshold, his smile read nervous as well as happy.

Lars grinned as they went off into the slowly vanishing night. While Haemish led the way Lars just watched him from behind, all his graceful movements. The way he reached up to touch his face, Lars couldn't tell why from his viewpoint but whatever it was Haemish soon gave up. From the back frame of his face he could see the hints of a smile, and Lars knew he was mimicking it.
Soon they left the canopies of street lamps and made there way instead into small residential houses lined up with earthy smelling trees. The rain had made everything smell clean and fresh. A few drops falling from leaves landed on Lars's head as the ran past them. It reminded him of Central Park at night. How many nights he'd spend there!? Alive and Dead, it was still the best place at night. He and his friends would make mischief all through the park at night, whatever they found they did, usually not being in their mind and under the influence of something. All the thinking made him miss home, but he looked forward at the perfection running in front of him and forgot completely what the park in the center of the city was called.
They reached a driveway after they had gone a little bit out of the way of the other houses. This house was small and concealed within more soggy trees. The earthy smell and the crunch of gravel reminded Lars of a farm somehow, reminded him of wilderness in general, or at least how much he knew of the matter.
Lars smiled crookedly while Haemish welcomed him in. The whole house was so vibrant with a nice glow to it. It was, as before, small, but he loved it. More remembrance of his home, his little apartment in New York, but that was much smaller, and more plainly painted. The whole scheme and faint lighting made it cast similar shadows as on the street, highlighting the great features. Still, everything was absolutely perfect.
Not completely sure on how to make himself at home quite yet Lars turned around to Haemish. Lars figured he should be courteous and at least give his thanks. He walked over and embraced Haemish. He stood on his tippy toes to reach his ear and placed his lips so they touched the outside while he spoke softly. "Thanks for this." he whispered before he pressed his lips fully to Haemish's ear giving a silent kiss as not to cause that annoying kiss in the ear sound that lousy aunts do. But he really was happy he was here, and he knew it must be difficult for Haemish after not having opened up in a while.
