Hayaki sighed, curling his fingers into Oliver's vest. "I wasn't sad." he said softly, his voice low and barely audible. "I just...was it ok?" he asked, a quiet plea. Begging to be told that Oliver wanted the kiss, that this wasn't some kind of bizzare pity that Oliver was showing him right now. That this was something real, not a dream or an illusion.
Ever since his first lover had left him, he'd been holding himself a bit apart from everyone, smiling and happy but absent in some kind of fundamental way. He'd not done it on purpose; it had just happpened. Oliver was the first person he'd kissed on his own initiative. Oliver was the first person since him that Hayaki had felt any sort of real desire for. It was kind of frightening, how quickly Hayaki had gone from like to this. He'd heard of love at first sight but always scoffed at it.
He wasn't sure what this was, really. It might be love. He didn't have a lot of experience at this kind of thing. All he knew wast that right here, in Oliver's arms, was exactly where he wanted to be. He did know there was more than just a physical attraction; he'd felt that over the years. THis was different.
Looking up into Oliver's eyes, he tried very hard to read the emotions that he could see there. His surge of sorrow seemed ridiuculous now. This wasn't the time for see-sawing emotions and self-doubt. He wanted this, and he wanted Oliver. No matter what else he was worrying about, he knew those two facts beyond a doubt.

Slender fingers rubbed gently into the smooth neck beneath, strongly ignoring the urge to feel the pulsing vein just a few inches away from where the tips of his nails lay. No vampire, even those like him who stay on a strict diet of animal blood only, can resist the temptation of a beating heart. It had taken Oliver years to learn control, to not even twitch at the sight of a tilted neck, and yet he still couldn't deny the enticing lub-dub sound that rang in his ears like the honeyed tones of a temptress. But the hunger no longer lingered, and his need to hunt had died the moment he realised the extent of the damage he could actually cause. And he would never ever wish harm on this man... Not as long as he could help it.
He could barely breathe when he felt a small tugging at his vest, and yet he wished he'd pull harder, closer until he could breathe no more. And yet, he also wished he'd leave him be...
You're not safe here, don't you see? Thoughts twirled in his head even as he breathed in the earthy scent of man. I will bring you nothing but pain, sorrow and misery...
"I wasn't sad."
Oliver blinked.
"I just...was it ok?"
Pulling back a little, Oliver looked up into eyes just as uncertain as his own and sighed, shaking his head with a small smile. "I wouldn't exactly call a knee-buckling experience like that as just 'ok'." he chuckled breathlessly and rubbed a callused thumb just at the corner of the very lips that had possessed his not too long ago. "There is nothing in any language that could describe that, and I am not going to try. Simply because I will not try and categorise something as natrual as that into a few words."
A deep breath and the tailor suddenly wished he could remember what it was like to feel the flush of surging emotions through blood-flowing veins. Or the fast paced thump of a heart beneath his ribs... It was like sympathising with the Tin Man from OZ.
"I-I have something to confess Master Hayaki, and this may be a bit embarrassing to tell but... I've never, I-I mean I haven't ... This... It's been a long time since I've ever even embraced anyone let alone... kiss."
Kiss. Such a simple word with only four letters, and yet it fell from his lips like a forbidden phrase, something so pure and yet, taboo at the same time. And for a vampire created during a time when even holding hands was an intimacy, this was not something to be taken lightly.
"I-I... thank you."

Hayaki heard Oliver's words and a shy, happy smile appeared on his lips. He leaned into Oliver's finger a little, almost like a cat, and laughed breathlessly. "I...I have to admit, it's been a long time for me, too." He said softly, his eyes warm and gentle. "It's...don't thank me." He said, laughing again.
He sighed and gently unwound his fingers from Oliver's vest, then smoothed the creases out carefully, his eyes dropping from Oliver's to his hands. "We don't...I don't want to rush this." He said quietly, the smile still in place. "I like you...and...it's just that I think we're moving a bit fast." He confessed quietly, looking up at Oliver's face.
He finished fixing Oliver's vest, then shyly put his hands on Oliver's hips, a blush spreading across his cheeks at the intimacy. He mentally berated himself; he wasn't a virgin, but...it really had been a long time. And he wasn't experienced, really. Andrew had been his one and only sexual encounter period, straight or gay, and he hadn't ever been the aggressive one in their relationship. So he wasn't sure what to do now; what the rules were, or what was expected. He felt awkward and uncertain, but oh so wonderful. Safe and happy and utterly blissful. He felt like he could stay here forever.
He sighed. He couldn't stay here forever...it was almost dawn, and he was tired, and he had things to do. And he was sure that Oliver was tired too. But it was hard to think of letting go, of leaving. What if this was all just a beautiful dream? He suddenly leaned forward, burying his face in Oliver's vest, and closed his eyes.

There were hands smoothing down the lapels of his vest and it just occurred to the vampire, that was something he could get used to on a daily basis. He could imagine this scene played over and over... And then there were hands on his hips ,and Oliver found himself breathless again. It was such a simple gesture, and yet it spoke volumes, like crossing a border that many wouldn't cross on a first or second meeting.
Hayaki's body language spoke of a certain amount of insecurity, maybe even nervousness at actions he was obviously not used to initiating. Tentative movements that were laced with some strong, unnamed desire. The driving force that brought Oliver to him closer still like a magnet's pull regardless of any warnings he might be having... It was a flattering, humbling thought, and Oliver wished to never take it for granted.
"We don't...I don't want to rush this. I like you...and...it's just that I think we're moving a bit fast."
Dark eyes blinked. "Y-you like me?" And he regretted them the moment they popped from his mouth. It was such a juvenile statement to make and he felt all the more ridiculous for even saying it at all. Besides, if the young man didn't like him, would he have even kissed him in the first place?... The tailor cleared his throat in embarrassment, his expression a mix between abject horror and sheepishness, his lips tilted in a sort of lopsided smile.
"What I meant to say, is that I... I like you, too."
And he indeed felt a lot better after saying that, it almost gave him a sense of belonging. Something he hadn't felt in a very long time other then feelings left untouched that were now slowly beginning to take forms and names; Simple joy and contentment. Yes, content. Here in the arms of this mortal man even with the approaching dawn trickling warning signals down his spine, nagging at him to find solace in his underground room despite the fact that the sunlight never reached beyond the borders of the alley.
They had to part. At least for now.
Brushing his cheek alongside the soft dark tresses of Hayaki's hair, the tailor held him close and also let his eyes fall shut for just a while, savoring the moment of utter calm and peace in the knowledge that feelings were felt, made known and requited. The vampire hadn't known such a feeling, or maybe he had and just didn't really take notice till now.
"The new day brings new beginnings Master Hayaki," he whispered into the shell of an ear peeking from between silken strands, "But tonight's chapter must come to an end... You need your rest and time to think, to reflect."

"What I meant to say, is that I... I like you, too."
Hayaki found himself grinning like an idiot; he probably looked silly, but he didn't care. Closing his eyes, he sighed happily, feeling like he was fourteen and with his first crush again. Silly, happy, excited, scared...so many emotions, so little time.
He rubbed his nose gently against Oliver's chest and sighed again, this time regretfully, at Oliver's last words. They were true, he knew. He could see the dawn breaking and he knew he should be exhausted, but all he could feel was the urge to dance around. Or shout. Or both.
Quelling the ridiculous urges, he pulled a little away from Oliver and smiled into the other's eyes. "Can I come back tonight?" he asked softly. "I would like to get started on that painting..."
He ducked his head, then peeked at Oliver through his bangs. "I don't have to...I just want to...see you...again." He confessed quietly, blushing but determined. He didn't release his gentle hold of Oliver's hips either. He didn't want to go, and it was proving impossible to force his fingers to let go.

He didn't remember ever having felt this warm. Fires and electric blankets could only provide so much heat, but just having those hands curled over his hips, made him feel like he'd been warmed from the inside out. It wasn't just the physical touches, it was also just the comforting feelings that lay awash over him in waves with every thump of Hayaki's heart.
And pitter pat it went, like summer's rain on my rooftop...
"Can I come back tonight? I would like to get started on that painting..."
Oliver pulled back to see glittering eyes peering through a forest of dark hair, and it somehow made him gulp involuntarily.
"I don't have to...I just want to...see you...again."
Brows raised in pleasant surprise, the sorrow from his eyes replaced with the glow of mirth not unlike the one found on the first night they met. No one ever really wanted to visit him other than on professional business, and here was this sweet young mortal who was not just spreading niceties for the sake of being polite. If that hopeful smile was anything to go by...
"I'd be d-delighted," he replied, his voice hushed from disbelief at how fast this was all going, "Master Hayaki, this place, my shop, my home... Are free for you to enter at any time which you please. Let it too be your sanctuary, if need be."
Of course he was letting the man cross boundaries that many have yet to even see, but he barely gave a care. Not right now anyway. And that suited the dumb-struck tailor just fine, even as he selfishly enjoyed the touch of another on a certain, if but intimate, level.

Hayaki smiled brilliantly up at him, then impulsively closed the distance between them, kissing Oliver again, his heart beating widly. After a moment, however, he forced himself to back off. Still smiling and blushing horribly, he ducked his head again, then pressed his forhead to Oliver's chest. "Until tonight, then..." he said softly.
He gently released Oliver, stepping backward to seperate them. It was hard; he sternly told himself that it was moving fast enough, thank you very much, and that he was coming back tonight, and that he could wait. Taking a deep breath, he reased his eyes to Olver's and sighed. "I should go..." he said softly, reluctantly.
He started to move towards the door, keeping his eyes on Oliver-as if he'd dissapear once he was gone. A lovely daydream...god, he hoped not. There was already a kind of dreamlike-quality to the whole encounter. He prayed that it was real...
"I'll see you tomorrow then, ok?" he said softly, his hand on the doorknob.

Three things happened in rapid succession... The sudden spike in heart beat rate, a brightly blinding smile and then again... The meeting of two in a firm press of lips, this time a little more sure in their confidence and assurance that the other was receptive to the intimate touch. A shuddered breath later and Oliver let his hands drop from the nape of Hayaki's neck to the sides of his shoulders, his lashes fluttering lightly as he tried to regain some sort of control over his giddy body.
"Until tonight, then..."
A few jerky movements of the head, like lazy nodding, as Oliver reaffirmed the promise with his nose barely brushing the tip of an exposed ear, "Tonight." he whispered and allowed the mortal man to draw back as his arms fell back to his sides.
And there, like the bridge of a song, came a few silent seconds. Barely enough to be counted as a moment, while the two men reigned in their wildly galloping emotions before they flew away too far to reach. Oliver timed his own with the slowing beat of Hayaki's heart, calming down into something more serene. More like his usual self.
"I should go..."
"For now." Another promise to ease the parting, after all, the sooner he left the sooner he could return. The tailor found himself looking forward to his next waking. "I will be present."
Following him to the door, the vampire watched as the human sought one more reassurance in softly spoken words.
"I'll see you tomorrow then, ok?"
This time it was Oliver who took a step forward. Oliver who placed his hand over Hayaki's own around the doorknob. Oliver who leaned forward and placed a small, chaste kiss just at the corner of those pouting lips and breathed his third promise across the soft flesh. "Most definitely Master Hayaki."
Third time was the charm; three times kissed, three times promised. And all before the sun rose up. The cooler hand helped its warm counterpart to turn the handle and pull it open, letting the first breeze of a new day float into the shop. Oliver smiles shyly, but warmly, his eyes gleaming beneath the dim lighting of the store as he released the captive hand under his.
"Your morning awaits you, Sir Hawk."

Hayaki's eyes fluttered closed as Oliver closed the distance between them; the gentle kiss, so sweet and unexpected, made his breath catch in his throat. A gentle smile curved his lips and he opened his eyes. "Bye, Oliver." He said softly, stepping out into the morning air.
He resisted the urge to turn around; if it was just a dream...for a moment, a shred of memory crossed his mind; a television program of some kind. A dissapearing shop that gave you everything you wanted...he shook his head, laughing gently at himself, then stuffed his hands in his pockets, ducking his head a little and walking down the street to his hotel.
I can't wait until tonight... That same gentle smile curved his lips all the way back to his room...
